Michael Irvin on Al Golden

FWIW...I dont like golden

I don't like Golden either...actually I hate him like most people on this board. However, it is comical to me for anybody to try to discredit Michael Irvin for anything that he says regarding this situation or any concerning the program. A guy like High Seas proclaiming that "Either with us or against us Irvin"??? Seriously??? He helped build this program to greatness but he's no longer with us???

You think that Michael Irvin needs our approval or gives two ***** what we think about his opinions on the matter? The man is one of the greatest of many greats to ever step foot on the campus and now he is essentially accused of being an enemy to the program by some because he is hopeful that Golden can turn things around. I am hopeful that he can turn things around as well. I don't believe that there is a chance in **** that he does and I would like to see him removed at the earliest possible moment but I would NEVER tell a legend like Irvin to keep his opinions to himself unless they parallel mine. He has earned the right more than anybody that posts on this or any other message board to voice his opinion. Some of you guys need to get a perspective on things....we're talking about Michael Irvin. SMDH...

Going .500 over 4 years in the Coastal does crazy shlt to a fan base. Mike is entitled to whatever his opinion is but "calm your asses down". We showed him a lot more respect than he showed us.

First off...I think Irvin is simply spewing the corporate line and refuses to criticize the man in public. If he really thought Golden was the answer, his nephew would be coming to Miami.

But if I'm wrong and Irvin really means it.....he can go **** himself.

FIRE AL GOLDEN

You think Michael Irvin should go ....himsefl? Really? This is one of the founding fathers of the U. You think you care more about UM than he does? This guy sweat, bleed, and cried orange and green. Who the .... are you to tell him to go ....himself?

That's exactly what I said ****face.

If he REALLY meant it (which I still don't think he did - as I mentioned earlier I'd bet he is just doing the administration a public marketing favor) then he should absolutely go check himself back into a drug rehab center.

ANYONE, including the 3 or 4 of you morons left on this board with your 4-5 additional screen names each, who still supports Golden isn't very intelligent and is part of the problem.

supporting golden and accepting reality are two different things. you are obsessing on something that will not reap rewards at this juncture as the decision to keep golden has been made.

Hey Jedi, I didn't mention Golden at all in my response to your original post. Put down the lightsaber and get a life.

First off it's Irvin's nephew not his son or Michael making the decision. Also, just because he said to give the man some time doesn't mean he thinks Golden can get it done. He's being level headed about the situation. I understand we have seen enough to know he can't do it but it's fact that he has next year to salvage his Miami career.

Right after FROLDEN'S *** IZ FRIED, Michael, and the rest of the sports media will quickly jump on the bandwagon, saying

It's about time
He brought the U down
Was given every chance
Blah Blah Blah

For now, Michael wants continued access. Like others, he'll bury his integrity for a paycheck; kind of like Frolden.

It's funny people hate on Sapp, but he was one of the few to call it out early that Golden was a bum.

Doesn't change the fact that Sapp is a gigantic piece of trash.

No doubt. I'll place more stock in his opinion when I learn of any donations he made to the U when he was in the NFL and we had a decent coach.

UM

what is seeing things through? how long does this guy need to compete with even marginally talented teams?? feel like i'm taking crazy pills

being an all time great player here doesn't make you immune from criticism.

Agreed, but whose opinion do you think holds more water: the man who caught touchdowns while actually playing and winning a championship at the U, or internet posters who just clapped as they watched him do so?

that's not a good argument considering the other cane greats who don't believe in Golden. The other cane greats hold just as much water as Irvin

Irvin did not necessarily give a ringing endorsement of Golden. All he said was let it play itself out. At no point in time did he say he feels Golden is the right coach for the team, or that Golden is a winner that should continue to coach Miami down the road etc. He wants fans to step back a second and allow the man to either succeed or hang himself next year. That's it. Neither the Slurpers nor the AntiGoldenites should get terribly excited about his comments.

AND just the same you've got guys like Buchanan, Gonzales, Sapp, Highsmith who are also just as validating and important as Irving saying Golden's schemes stink and he should not be coaching at UM anymore etc.

Irvin's just wrong on this, but that doesn't mean I don't still love him. I love that guy. He was a warrior for us.

For some reason I don't recall this much support Butch, Coker or RS by Irvin. He's going out of his way to tell off the fan base. I mean Coker was more successful than all of them and he didn't come out and say he earned more time. Butch was on probation but I don't recall much support from Irvin. And RS had a talent issue and an image issue but I don't recall much support from Mike.

Mike may have been one of the all-time greats but all he cares is about himself. If the admin is in support of Al than its already confirmed through Mike bring the corporate "mouthpiece". He only cares about himself and would only side with the most beneficial group to secure his career. I don't put much weight into his comments. He "earned" the right to be here? How? Our players aren't working as hard, losing more games and are disgruntled. How did Al earn anything?

This reminds me of how all the retards like DK slithered out of hiding after Herbstriet publicly endorsed Folden and said if people couldn't see what a great coach he is, they must not understand football.

We closed out the year with 3 straight losses. One to a sub .500 team, one to a .500 team.

Golden Girls were driven into hiding. But it seems these comments have inspired them to return.

Golden Girls like DK love these comments cuz they love TALK. That is all they have, just that - TALK. No results. All sizzle, no steak. All hat, no cattle. It's why you didn't hear a peep from them when Folden lost 7 games, but now that he doesn't actually have to produce on the field, it's TALKING season. This is what Folden and his crew live for - selling the future since they can't win in the present.

Prepare for a long offseason like last year's: more delusional Foldenites telling us how we're crazy because we don't think we're gonna win 11 games, and why Al has earned 15 more years because he lost 3 scholarships this season.
