Miami will be the #1 seed in the playoffs if..

If Bama, UGA, TAMU or OU wins out they’ll be #1. If IU, Oregon or Ohio State wins out they’ll be #1. If we want to be #1 ND, FSU, USF & UF have to not lose again. Odds are we won’t play another ranked team until the ACCCG. We need a two loss SEC & BIG10 champ to get the #1 seed. If beating three T25 teams isn’t enough to get us ahead of OSU, winning out won’t either.
Umm, regardless whether or not I care if Miami were overall 1,2 or 3, both Miami and Bama winning out does not equal Bama #1. Resume is easy; Miami > FSU > Bama

Common opponent result is a data point objective

Last year the #1 seed had a tougher draw (Oregon getting Taint/Tennessee winner). It really doesn't make a difference after the top 4 unless they fixed that issue. The G5 school has no business being in the top 4 and earning the bye.
They are no more "auto seeds".

The CFPO committee re-seeds the entire post season field based on their rankings, not anything else.

So expect them to stack the deck to maximize an SEC/B1G finals matchup

@Empirical Cane I wasn't being sarcastic. If anything, we have been overrated in the polls over the last 25 years.
I was amigo.

You are correct. Our Canes have been significantly overrated y-t-y in polling and the end results speak for themselves...full stop.

With that said, whenever Miami was the clear common sense choice for #1 vs #2 in bygone eras and our Canes gave pollsters .0000001mm of room to doubt, the pollsters always punished the Canes.

I'm trying hard to think when this wasn't the case and can't think of one.

Argument could be made Auburn got screwed when Miami jumped them in polling, but our Canes did beat #1 Nebraska...
