Miami Vs UF

Why don't people focus on beating Virginia?

This team would benefit significantly from focusing on upcoming games only.
Not watching rankings.
Not seeing if they are trending on social media.
And certainly not speculating about which Bowl game they may play in

For ***** sake...

Learn how to win football games by playing with intelligence, intensity and discipline.

Can you show me what season it was that getting youngins more bowl practice reps turned into a huge benefit? This is CIS cap. Most coaches nowadays don't even use all the practices, and half of their "team" isn't even playing in the game. Bowls are completely meaningless in 2022
Butch was one who didn’t mind minor bowls as he was rebuilding the program. There was value in the extra practice and the game, even if it wasn’t one of the major bowls Miami was accustomed to. I’ll think big picture and defer to his opinion.

Quitter thought to claim bowls are completely meaningless in 2022.

If Oregon or USC wins the PAC12 but not selected for the CFP would it be meaningless to play in the Rose Bowl against the loser of the Ohio State-Michigan game? Same last season with Ohio State-Utah, Oklahoma State-Notre Dame, Michigan State-Pittsburgh, Baylor-Ole Miss, etc.

Maybe teams should forfeit the remainder their season as soon as they are out of CFP contention. Would certainly shorten the season.

Any player with legitimate NFL aspirations should immediately quit and start prepping for the draft. Declare early if eligible and the NFL Advisory board gives you a draft-worthy grade. Or in Miami‘s case declare anyway, because agents and others wanting a piece of you will outright lie, and you’re dumb enough to believe them. Of course, even if you might be a late round pick or UFA you’re surely good enough to stick on a roster and get that proverbial huge ‘second contract’. Right?

I only hope coaches and players don‘t quit because they think playing is meaningless.

Whatever Butch was doing 20 some years ago is completely and utterly meaningless in today's landscape.

I'm not the one that decided to watch Bowl after ****** Bowl last year with tons of players missing, but that's what the reality is nowadays. It's not just guys going to the league. How many on here, I'm guessing you included, have stated how Mario is going to "flip the roster"? Who the **** do you think is playing in the game then next years portal transfers? Look I LOVED Bowl games as a kid and even until probably 5 years ago. But the reality is now with the portal etc they barely matter to half the players much less me. I couldn't tell you who won them last year even though I watched (because I love cfb and bet) . Coach Richt didn't even use practices. That was 5 years ago. They've only gotten significantly less important since. What do you think is going to happen when the playoff keeps expanding and players won't participate in them unless they get paid?

I’ll grant there are some ugly bowl games. Two 7-5, 6-6 teams playing nowhere near home, is dumb. They should be dropped. Especially if CFP expands to 12 or 16 teams. Sounds like 12, which I presume will use some of the existing major bowls as stages. If there are minor bowls, so to speak, at least try to geographically align them to make some sense.

And players on scholarship and with NIL deals, whatever amount, are getting paid.

Players choosing to skip a bowl because they plan on transferring are no longer on the team as far I’m concerned. They made a business decision, the same as players skipping bowls to prepare for the NFL. Clean out their locker and wish them luck on their new endeavor.

Same as any other player quitting on his teammates.

Quitting is indicative to the ‘culture’ problem.

BTW, a number of stars who transferred in the offseason played in their meaningless bowl game. Caleb Williams, Jordan Addison, Travis Dye...

How likely do you think any of things are to happen?

I think beating FSU is more likely than going 7-5. We’re obviously losing to Clemson. This team has shown it refuses to care about any game since A&M. My only hope is FSU gets their attention, but the way things go around here is we’ll win that game and then end the season on a 3 game losing streak.

AKA rather slim.

Being a fan as opposed to a coach is a weird dynamic isnt it?

Lets be honest, if some of you found out that the coaches shared the same thoughts (we have no chance), goals (just get the season over with and F a bowl), and fears (oh god i dont want to play such or such for being scared of getting blown out by a rival),

Yall would be foaming at the mouth and ready to take heads off.

There’s a reason I said “best case scenario” and not “most likely scenario”

Because at this point it’s the best thing that can happen for us…we beat FSU, win our remaining games outside of Clemson, get matched up with UF because we both sucked this year and then go on to win and ride the momentum of beating your two biggest instate rivals in the same season EVEN in a down season.

Matching with UF is the ONLY way I can see our bowl game having ANY meaning and to be honest it’s not impossible that we matchup with them considering they still have to play UGA, South Carolina, A&M as well as FSU to close out…and I have doubt they’ll drop a minimum of 2 of those.

I barely have faith we will win this Saturday LMAO but as I said it’s a best case scenario for a reason…
The crazy thing is UF has a real possibility to lose the rest of their games. They are a really bad tea.

I hate to be an optimist but a Miami Vs UF Bowl game is the best case Scenario right now for the program (that’s also somewhat realistic)

If we can manage to go 7-5 and UF manages to go 7-5 I wouldn’t be surprised to see them match up in a bowl game.

The gators right now are 4-3 (about to be 4-4 with UGA coming this week)
Recruiting Wise if we can have a win against both FSU & UF in the same year that will do wonders for us as well as propel us for 2023 (which to be honest this season is lost and we playing for momentum/hope/pride at this point)

UF will most Likely take an L to UGA as well as one of: @ South Carolina, @Texas A&M or @FSU which IMO would put us on par to matchup with them in a bowl game if we can manage W’s against UVA, FSU, GT & PITT

Before anyone comes at me saying beating FSU is unlikely just remember we lost to a BAD FSU team last year and I won’t write anything off for a rivalry game.

this is a BEST case scenario for us.

I won’t hold my breath on it happening but for the rest of the season our best case scenario is:

1. Gattis Leaves and we implement some form of spread (this is just as bad as Enos)
2. We get healthy/get young & returning guys quality burn
3. We beat FSU
4. We matchup with UF in a bowl game and also win
5. We don’t lose any underclassman to the draft that shouldn’t leave
In what reality does this team go 7-5? Will be lucky to go 5-7.

You want the money that goes into the conference pool to be distributed amongst the teams. You want to be able to say you played in a bowl, and have qualified for ___ number of bowls for ____ number of years.

The result of the game is mostly meaningless.
