****Miami vs. Syracuse GAME THRAED****

This is exactly what Hurricanes fans, and honestly, I needed. It wasn’t perfect. It was a little sloppy at times. But Miami controlled almost the entire game and led wire to wire.

On Saturday afternoon inside the JMA Wireless Dome, the Hurricanes (16-4, 5-2 ACC) took care of business against Syracuse, walking away with a solid road win over the Orange (12-8, 3-4 ACC). Miami jumped out to a 9–0 start and later used a key 7–0 run in the second half to finally put Syracuse away, snapping any chance of a three-game losing streak.

Four Hurricanes finished in double figures. Malik Reneau led the way with 20 points on 8-of-12 shooting and pulled down 11 rebounds. Shelton Henderson and Tre Donaldson stuffed the stat sheet with 16 points. Tru Washington added 14 points and three rebounds. Miami shot 61.1 percent from the floor and knocked down 7-of-13 from three.

Miami came out hot with that early 9–0 run, but Syracuse didn’t go away, battling back to tie it at 27–27. The Hurricanes answered late and took a 41–36 lead into halftime. The second half went back and forth, and it was a two-point game around the 15:00 mark before Miami went on a big run to push the lead to 69–56, the largest of the night. Syracuse never really got back into it after that and Miami left the JMA Dome with a 85-76 victory.

This was a must needed road and conference win. This win keeps Miami in shape for March Madness. A loss, was putting the Hurricanes on the bubble.

Miami will now look to play the Stanford Cardinals at home on January 28th. A win’s a win, and this was needed.

Good bounce back road win. Very efficient offense. D was a little lax but it didn't matter with how we were scoring. A regular defensive performance we win by 20.

Miami and coach Jai Lucas didn't trail once against a Quad Two team in Syracuse. Walked into their trap and took over, that’s why the Hurricanes won today.

Led by big man Malik Reneau, who bounced back after an off game against Florida State, he stepped up huge tonight with 20 points and 11 rebounds on 8/12 scoring in the win over Syracuse today.

Three other Hurricanes scored in double figures, with the team shooting over 60% from the field.

You can check out the Hurricanes highlights from the win down below. Whether you missed the game, were working, or slept in, we’ve got it all for you, Hurricanes fans.

It was a very enjoyable win for Miami—get it all below and enjoy!

Everything with this team is difficult, mostly because it's a very flawed roster. Miami has six players on a 13 man roster that have any business playing significant minutes on an power conference team.
Coach Lucas is doing what he can, but it's also obvious he built an AAU roster, because basketball IQ is nonexistent. You'd think that some of these older players would understand things like how to attack a zone. It's frustrating to watch, because if someone like me, watching on TV can see the hole how is it that these guys can't. Coach Lucas is **** near having to spoon feed some of this stuff to guys, it doesn't make any sense. That's not his fault, I blame USA basketball and AAU, they allowed this crap to happen....

Syracuse is poorly coached, Autry won't be back next season. If they would have stuck with the zone, Miami would have continued to self destruct. It was obvious that Miami didn't understand how to consistently attack the zone, outside of Henderson, who started to hit the FT line gap, and made some impressive plays...

Great game from Reneau, Hendo, Tru & Tre.

We shot 54% from 3, dominated them on the glass outrebonding them & hit 80% of our FT's.

That's always a winning formula.

Don't forget Udeh, he was flushing like he had diarrhea...

Indiana transfer Malik Reneau has been one of Miami’s biggest wins in the portal, and he keeps proving it. The 6-foot-9 forward was Miami’s first transfer signee and has thrived in Jai Lucas’ system all season.

Reneau looks like a legit NBA guy and one of the ACC’s best scorers. He showed it again against Syracuse, leading Miami with another big day.

Miami (16-4, 5-2 ACC) jumped out to a 9-0 start and never trailed. After Syracuse tied it at 27, the Hurricanes closed the half on a 7-0 run to take a 41-36 lead. The Orange cut it to two in the second half, but Miami answered with timely threes and free throws to push the lead back to double digits and stayed in control the rest of the way.

Reneau finished with 20 points and 11 rebounds for his sixth double-double. Shelton Henderson added 16 points, while Tre Donaldson and Tru Washington chipped in 16 and 14 as Miami rolled past Syracuse.

Since we were sorta being zoned into oblivion and losing steam, the consecutive 3's by 88 were critical and possibly made the difference based on when they went in. WD 88 (something not said a lot).

We're not going to be a great 3pt shooting team because that's just not the makeup of the roster.

However, lowering the volume of 3 attempts & making timely clutch 3's when they matter most is what we can & have done in games like this one & vs Wake Forrest.

The biggest issues we'll have to contend with for the remainder of the season in ACC play, is shot selection & turnovers.

A big part of Jai bringing Donaldson off the bench for this game I would guess had to do with Tre's poor performances vs FSU & Clemson, but larger picture, his bad shot selection has been a thing to monitor since game one vs Jacksonville.

He's had very good performances throughout most of the season & has been a primary contributor in every win. The key is just getting him to play smarter, more in control & let the game come to him. When he tries to force it, everything comes undone.
