Miami vs Penn State talent

Postscript: We may be headed in a similar trajectory under The Plumber. The difference is, we'll beat the two best teams we play but lose to a couple 6-6 NPCs.

Paterno recruited the South, but hated doing it. He had some Southern players, e.g. Bobby Engram. But it was no secret he didn't like recruiting the region.

Franklin is ridiculed constantly by his fan base for his inability to win the big games. At quarterback I’d take Beck over Allar 7 days a week.

It should be interesting watching the season play out in comparison.

If we had his defense he's had those same seasons even Tyler might've figured out how to win let alone #6 last season

Agree with the recruits very well part. It's just not recognized by the recruiting services. At the end of the day there's almost no difference between a top 7 class and a top 15 class. You add 1-2 players and you move a lot. As an example we finished 7th a few years ago. If Cormani had stuck we would have ended up 3rd.

Yeap, and he nabbed Michael Timpson (Hialeah-Miami Lakes), Tim Johnson (Sarasota), David Daniels (Sarasota) and Rich McKenzie from Broward during mid-late 1980s. Also, a pretty good back from Tennessee (Leroy Thompson). He didn't like recruiting kids who played the recruiting game. I guess that was a bigger thing than pedophilia.

Defense won't be anywhere near as good as last year. And you still have Drew aller at quarterback. I wouldn't feel too great about that if I was a pedo State fan. Oregon I don't remember who they got for quarterback this year or are they letting Dante moore start now? I wouldn't be overly shocked if you were right. But it's pretty hard to discount the cuckeyes too

3. Penn State has played 7 or 8 home games for the better part of 25 years. As a matter of fact, they kind of pioneered it. 12 game schedules used to be 6 home, 6 away with an occasional season of 7 home games as some sort of anomaly. Back in the mid 90's that started changing and it is a significant advantage.
4. Their non-conference games are generally a joke. This will likely change slightly as the B1G and $EC further attempt to hog all the tv revenue, but until all 12 regular season games are mandated to be B!G/$EC games, they're non-conference games will continue to feature schools like Idaho, Ball State, Kent State, et al.

This isn't some sort of Mario-slurper post although I'm certain that I'll be labeled as such. It's about making fair comparisons.

Love the excuse that always comes up when a team is better than ours but doesn’t recruit aswell. They are always junior and senior that waited their turn lol. When it’s not true

Unfortunately in today’s climate it has become almost reflex for me to describe all manner of nefarious and deviant behavior as diplomatically as possible. I have stuck my foot in my mouth far too many times so I just always try to say things in a way that doesn’t clearly show my cards regarding any particular issue.

Didn’t heavily recruit the south back in the day because he lacked the relationships and couldn’t compete in the bag game. His roots were Long Island, Jersey, Pa & bordering states.

Fair points. I just think OSU loses too much and they regress a tad this season.
