****Miami vs. NC State GAME THREAD****

We might not have a choice. If UK wises up and fires Pope they’ll come calling.
Maybe- If Texas doesn't make the tourney this year- I think Miller will be on frail footing moving into next year- but I dont see him staying at Miami past 5 years. He will leave it in great shape though.

With the amount of investment and resources being poured into athletics including basketball, why can’t we become a destination instead of a stepping stone? L kind of showed everyone what we can be with the right coach.

This is a very unskilled team. They win with effort , toughness and cheesy to say “ care”. They play hard for their coach which says a lot about Lucas. This team will never be pretty to watch. We play 80’s big east ball in the 2020’s lol.
With a new coaching staff and 100% roster turnover, no way we had a right to expect to be 20-5, 9-3 at this point.

I think it'll be hard to go more than 3-3 in our remaining games but ... I'll take it. I was "wait and see" on Lucas but he's done a nice job so far, for sure,

Agree on being cautious. Season one is a smashing success in my book. But no need to go full-******Nole and believe our coach is elite based on limited data points so far. We'll know by next season based on how Lucas builds his roster in the offseason and how the returners click with the newcomers. Future may be a little uncertain. But no reason not to enjoy the ride we're on right now.

We all thought the game was toast & team collapsed after Allen missed those FTs.
I sure did think we were done for.

We also learned something we already knew. Whether starting, or as 6th man, we need Tru Washington. Not just because he was yesterday's hero but ... we need him available given our lack of a quality bench.

If UK fires Pope they'll spare no expense to hire a proven, top of the market coach. Think someone like Brad Underwood
Maybe. But I remember their last coaching search started with the same sentiment and they ended with like their 10th choice.

From what I read they struggled landing coaches because they weren’t going heavy in the NIL game. Maybe that will change here.

I do also think it’s harder to poach established coaches in today’s game.

This team is incredibly frustrating at times. They are frustrating because there's no way in **** that they should even be competitive in some of these games when you look at the stats. Teams that shoot sub 20% from three and below 60% from the line are usually blown the F out. Somehow, Miami was in a dogfight. We all know this isn't sustainable and eventually, it's going to collapse in spectacular fashion(If this team makes the tournament, getting run out of the gym by a decent team is well within reason), but wins are wins...
Well, it is what it is…hopefully we get in and make a little splash. Honestly, no way we could have expected much more.

This team plays a fly by the seat of your pants ugly *** style, but the wins are still the wins.

It would interesting to see what this team could do actually making FTs at a high clip, much fewer TOs and a higher 3 point clip…but each game goes by and that seems more and more like a fantasy land. I’ll take em any way we can get em

Maaaaan, in the postseason we are going to have to go full Rick Barry from the line
Rick Barry graduated a year ahead of me at UM. Saw most of his home games (played at the Miami Beach Convention Hall and the Miami Beach Auditorium).

More than instruction on his Free Throw style, we could def use his 37.4 ppg and 18.3 rebounds a game (most of them on the Offensive glass). And that scoring number is from a time that had no 3 point baskets.
