Miami vs Miami this weekend

Miami is going to blow out VT….no worries

The real matchup is against Pitt..

ND didnt surpass 400 yards of offense but they surrendered less than 250.

ND had 8 penalties and 2 turnovers

ND had a def TD.

They played at Pitt in 64 degree sunny weather. And this was a game where Pitt admitted they couldn’t care less about.

Miami will have to match ND. Blowout, dominant defense. Play in colder weather. With something to play for.

Where Miami can best ND is on offense. Beck plays like he did vs NCST.

This will impress. It’s the last game of the regular season. The entire committee will be watching.

Make it known to backups that no matter score, we can pull starters.. This is the playoffs on the line, maybe you can sit Bain/Mesidor but pulling mass starters is no go.. We need massive blowouts and style points, as I am seeing point differential being used when many said style points dont matter in beginning of season.

Oh absolutely. The team and coaches better understand that this isnt a win, 1-0 every weekend type of situation. This is a you need to dominate and win 42-10 situation. Clear as day.
And 2 weeks of it. The fact ND played at Pitt and won so handily again just goes to show what Miami needs to do in that game as well. So extra pressure on this staff and team.
No of course if other teams lose in front things could be different.
We will see.
I see ND fans complaining about their Stanford start time, could Stanford really do it? That would be funny

Agree, BS part is Pitt had zero interest in the ND game as soon as it kicked off, at least that's what their coach said. Pitt will be chomping at the bit to ruin our chances.

I am still massively irritated that the refs took our TD off the board and that Davis missed the end-of-game FG. That last game should have been 48-7.

We've left way too many points on the board in other games this year:

Turnover deep in Bethune territory;
Picks at the end of 2Q and beginning of 3Q vs. USF;
The BS touchdown called back vs UF;
CJ Daniels dropping balls vs. Stanford and UF;
Missed FG vs. Stanford and NC State;
The 4th quarter vs FSU;
4th and 1 failure vs. SMU, Trader's ridiculous fumble, Lofton's ridiculous drop;
Botched FG attempt vs ND;
4 turnovers vs. Ville.

I fully recognize that if you score earlier in the game, or get a TD instead of FG, you may change the way you substitute or call the game, as may your opponent. So I realize that there are limits to how honest these counterfactuals really are as a thought experiment.

Disclaimer aside, if we look above, at MINIMUM we SHOULD have had 30 vs ND, 27 vs. SMU, 31 vs. FSU, 55 vs. USF, 51 vs. Stanford, 37 vs. Florida, 48 vs. NC State, 48 vs. Bethune. I don't even know how to quantify the Ville debacle. These are VERY CONSERVATIVE numbers.

We cannot leave any points on the field in the next two games. This does not mean you panic in the middle of the first quarter and go for it on 4th and 6 from the opponent's 22 yard line. Don't do stupid **** that puts us behind schedule. But it means we'd better be scoring on **** near every offensive possession. We need turnovers, and preferrably, defensive scores. We need Toney to hit on returns, and preferrably, a house call or two. We need near shutouts from our defense.

We need to be in a position where the backups come in with about 10-12 minutes to go. And they have to continue to run our offense and defense full throttle.

I strongly believe that much of the narrative about our "incomplete games" would be assuaged if we'd simply done our job and gotten a few more points where we were in position to do so. I acknowledge zebra activities have ****ed us multiple times as well.

I consider VT an elimination game not just in terms of W/L, but believe we will be eliminated if we don't blow them out.

In sum, I share @CDWright40 's grim view of our chances. Our sliver of hope rests first and foremost on us going out and playing near-perfect games against both VT and Pitt. There's no other way to get there.

Bad Stanford teams have upset highly ranked opponents in the past.

@PennsylvaniaCane lots of new discussions about margin of victory...

I believe you posted on this topic a time or two...

Seems like people are starting to see your light.
I don't believe in leaving in our starters when it's 41-0 with 11 minutes left. But our 2s and 3s need to be going full tilt and our Cs need to be calling the game as such.

And FFS stop messing up on field goals.

*Miami wins next two games with an average score differential of 45 or more*

Scumbag pole vaulting playoff committee: “Miami might have won convincingly to end the season, but they really just beat up on teams and they didn’t have to do that. Notre Dame had quality blowouts, where they won by just enough to not demoralize their opponent and run up the score, while showing us that they deserve to be in over an ACC program by having a quality loss to one of them. It just matters more”
*Nick Saban Hypno-toad blasts on TV screen for 10 minutes while chanting “SEC, SEC, SEC”*

My coping mechanism for whatever bull**** may or may not happen is ****** jokes and creating profoundly dumb logic that somehow feels like something these moronic ***** would do

At this point, where we are fighting for our life, I would do whatever it takes to put up as many point as possible these next games.

If that means keeping them in, then so be it. Our 2's and 3's aren't going to do anything to remotely help us, much less score the points we need

Against Pitt I would not take the starters out at all.

I'm mulling it over vs VT.
