****Miami vs. Louisville GAME THREAD****

We played 8 games decided by 6 or less. We were 4-4 in those games. We were the better team in all but 1. Need to close out close games, especially at home, especially against lesser teams.
Louisville is far from a lesser team. They've underachieved relative to preseason expectations (were ranked top 10 to start the year), but they have a lottery pick in Mikel Brown and a team that no one is going to want to play in the tourney.

Brown was out. We lost because they were hot, we didn't guard them and they wanted it more down their best player. Very winnable home game heading into the post season and we did not get it done. Clawed back. Choked it away at the end.

To the overall point -- Cal is a lesser team. FSU is a lesser team and they came into our house knowing they would win from the jump and did. We had a very very good season, but some frustrating losses - many the same way.

Louisville is the second best team in the ACC, especially when they have Brown playing. They shot the ball great today. Pretty much just like the UVA. Canes just don't play tight enough D. Teams score pretty much at will against them.

That is an area that's surprised me a bit. We're MUCH better on offense than I thought we'd be at season's start; not as good on D. And Defense is where Lucas made his reputation.

UConn just lost to Marquette, who had 11 wins coming in. Texas Tech lost to an Arizona State team that is about to fire their coach. These are top 10 teams. Very hard to go wire to wire, especially in conference

I said it yesterday. Based on what I saw from both UL & UVA when we played them. Both tight. I like both of those teams to make noise in March.

They have everything needed to win in March. Plus great coaching.

Matchups are king, but in my bracket I will likely have them both going deep

There are always these examples. It is also a pattern of not having the right energy level, Reneau picking up fouls early, and making bonehead plays down the stretch of a game. There is also the question of whether the team functions better at the end letting them play it out with momentum vs a set play. In the close losses, it seems like Jai calls a timeout, breaks the fast flow and the team can't get it done --- there could be some good examples that it worked, but fresh off a loss those stand out.

Miami could have also lost more games as well. This team played in a ton of close games, a TON, and we need to recognize that things could have easily gone the other way. Why is it so incredibly difficult for this fanbase to merely enjoy what happened and be realistic about what this team is?
I don’t disagree and I am fully enjoying what happened. I was just saying we exceeded expectations and even had the chance to be even better than that which is of course something to be proud of.

Busy weekend so I didn't get to chime in but L'Ville shot the lights out and the refs really didn't let either team defend. Not sure who that helped but our FT shooting was unusually good. I thought we had it when we went up 1 with a mujnite left but that Louisville kid made a great shot, step back, defended 3. Sometimes dudes just make shots. Overall a poor defensive effort but some of that was ticky tack fouls and ridulous 3 point shooting. They're another excellent team and we're right there with them. Let;s get our revenge Thursday.
