Per @flasportsbuzz, UM-FIU to renew football series beginning with game at Sun Life in 2018. Site of 2019 game TBD.

There is talk that the 2019 game will be at Marlins Park, because FIU's stadium isn't big enough

Why? There is a bad history with that team and we have nothing to gain, everything to loose.

Sad we play the likes of these teams... I don't mind it as a first game of the season type game where we pay them to come to our stadium to whip their *** but that's it.

As we go, we are going to step up our level of competition. We cant rely on the ACC for good scheduling strength. They will probably be the first game, the "Cupcake" and we will need to start upping the rest of the non conference sched.

I don't want to play those scrubs. We should be scheduling Alabama, LSU, Texas, Oregon, and USC.

This right here. I want at least 2 big OOC games a year instead of Savannah State & FIU. And coming soon Southern Miss & Toledo.

Probably a money-saving decision. My impression is that one reason the out-of-state cupcakes are willing to play major powers is they get a good payday for their program. I don't know how that works, but maybe the home team has to guarantee a payout. In this case, maybe we don't have to guarantee a pay out. Will FIU always be such a bad program? We used to have scheduling problems, that's why we sought confrerence affiliations at the end of the '80's. Do we still have scheduling problems for our out-of-conference games?

Would especially like to see someone like FIU as an early opener. As and if Canes improve, then we can get back to playing openers against major name schools. Simply put, the ACC wants us in big games early cause we draw an audience. We need to have a "pre-season" game for a few years till we build up a more veteran team. Wouldn't you rather have Kaaya breaking on against FIU or similar in his first game?

Maybe by then Lamar will be coaching here so he can jump in the 'renewed' field fight. Dorsey will be our OC and stay put (smart one).
