****Miami vs. Boston College GAME THREAD****

I appreciate this win today, especially how the last two seasons have gone in Coral Gables.
Ultimately, depth and making free throws will determine the rest of this season.
I still feel good that Miami will make the NCAA tournament, which is exceeding expectations I had coming into the season.

It was ugly. But a desperately needed win

They better wake up fast though with the tar heels coming to town on Tuesday
If our Canes play like they have the last 2 games against the Heels, they’ll lose by 20. Better start concentrating and quit playing uninterested and lackadaisical ball, or there will be no NCAA tourney this season.

It’s bad enough that they lost against a terrible FSU team and a mid Cal team at home. Those were brutal losses, and might cost us bigly. (PAUSE)

I'm not feeling so optimistic about making the tournament, but if we pull off even one upset against one of the upcoming ranked teams, then maybe. Either way, we should finish the season somewhere around .500 in the ACC - which I'd count as a success after a dreadful season last year, a first year coach, and an entirely new roster. Some of the games have been tough to watch, and after Donaldson, Reneau, Henderson, some of the kids are probably playing above their heads. We know we're not a good shooting team, and without Tru our depth is more problematic. But they've been competitive and winning more often than not, which is great change from last year.

am i wrong for saying reneau is crafty like Miller around the basket.
You’re not wrong but Reneau is on a whole nother level around the basket. He is beyond elite at getting to his left down there even when teams know that’s where he’s going

J Miller has him beat in the midrange game though no doubt. If Reneau had that in his game I think he’s a high draft pick

Three things I have noticed that need to improve as I'm sure many have witnessed. Very poor free throw shooting, a myriad of turnovers, and some poorcoaching decisions by Lucas. Taking Henderson out when we were on a run was an absolute dumb decison and it almost cost us. He needs to do a much better job of coaching. Unfortunately, this team is going nowhere but I like the fight. Zero depth on this team is quite noticeable.

Reneau is a **** good college player but he’s probably somewhere between 6’7 and 6’9 with average athleticism, not a real threat from outside, and a decent passer at best. Even if he was knocking down 15 footers consistently he’d be a round 2 pick.

I love Reneau’s post game. It’s smooth and polished and he’s more comfortable on the low block than anywhere on the court. I just remember Miller doing a lot for us from the wings and the elbow so not sure if it’s a great comp. Dewan Huell was stud but I don’t even remember how much he played at UM.

We have quite a few issues right now, but for the most part, coaching isn’t one of them

How the heck did we end up with the terrible shooting European? With all of the great shooting Euros that are out there, we end up with this jabronie? Malovec is buns. Dude misses more wide open 3’s than any player that I’ve ever seen. The worst part is that he’s not even close on most of his attempts. They are bricks. Dude is a major liability. He makes one once in a while, and then keeps on shooting and bricking them, which costs us too many possessions.

Altuntas may just be the most uncoordinated and worst basketball player that I’ve seen in the last 30 years. How did he ever end up on our roster?

2 seasons. First wasn't super impactful.
