Miami v. USF nearing sell-out

In recent memory, the answer is probably 2, if you're asking for actual and not announced. I can think of:

-2017: Va Tech and Notre Dame
-2002: FSU and maybe Va Tech
-2000: FSU and Va Tech

Honestly, the crazy thing is Miami has a chance to sell out 3 this year. I don't think USF will be a true sell out but Florida has the potential, although I'd bet against it if they lose this week.

people getting on the coaches for skiing players to post it - who cares, when has it ever been like this ?

we're getting the benefit of ranked teams coming to town but still, if we can get sellouts the next two weeks then there's not **** really people can say.UF may ***** that up by being 1-2 though

So dumb. I will never understand why we are the only team that that gets **** on for this, when we consistently outperform so many big public schools despite being one of the smallest schools in all of D1.

Nebraska will keep touting their sellout streak even though their own fans laugh at how it’s faked because the tickets are all bought up by a couple key boosters to keep the streak going.

Florida brags about attendance in all sports, and is consistently caught lying and no one cares. Game 1 of this year was nowhere near a sellout (was maybe 75-80% full) but they bragged about the attendance being ~1500 over the Swamp’s actual capacity.

FSU just reduced their stadium’s capacity to a size on par with HRS because they weren’t even selling out back when they had their championship season in 2013, let alone in any of the years since. And even in our worst years, FSU doesn’t do that much better than us in attendance, especially when you consider that they are a large public university. And they don’t do better than us every year.

UCF has something like 60K students, and they’ve never once had better attendance than us, even in our down years.

I’m just really over it.

The attendance thing will always be an issue, The fact is UM is a small private university and the non-student/alumni fan base is pretty small. You're talking about a population that's a large percentage non native born. I don't mean just people from the Caribbean or South/Central America, but so many snowbirds/retirees, etc. It's not a huge percentage of them that become Canes fans.

And yea South Florida has a lot fair weather fans. But even when we're good they only consistently show up for the big games. In 2000 we were headed for an NC (no one knew the BCS would ***** us) and we had a crucial game against BC on or right around thanksgiving. Only 40K showed up. It wasn't an "event" like FSU or VT, both were sell-outs. In 2001 (the greatest team of al time) the attendance for the meh opponents sucked. I was at every home game and only Washington was a sellout. No other game was close. Even for Syracuse who was ranked it was only 50K tops. It really wasn't much different than 2006 or 2007 when we were sh*t.

Don't look at the historical official numbers because those only show tickets sold. I was there and I could tell you how many a$$es were in seats.

Texas A&M goes to the stadium the night before to practice cheers for the games. People are buried facing the stadium. Notre Dame has all the tradition in the world and considers themselves the epicenter of college football. All these schools with so much ancillary s*** they hang onto to distinguish themselves from the rest. To make themselves seem better.

And Miami has the second most national championships in all of college football the last 40 years. In a half empty stadium. It drives them all f***ing crazy.

Lot of tickets still available on the secondary markets, and prices are coming down. Nearly 1,500 listings on SeatGeek and more than 400 listings on Stubhub. If you’re looking for a cheap last minute deal, there’s plenty to be had

USF nor UF may be actual every single seat sold sell out, but I think visually they will be sellouts, if you know what I’m saying.

Especially UFailure, but I think the crowd is going to be tremendous for USF as well. I usually have a good feel for these things and have yet to be far off. I haven’t missed a game in more than a decade, so my sample size is pretty good.

Believe it or not people were freaking out that we weren’t going to sell out Notre Dame and that there were going to be swaths of empty blue seats. I laughed at them and said no way. The atmosphere was great as it will be for the next two games.

I don’t think this game will be nearly as packed as Notre Dame. This is what the secondary market looks like just 7 hours before kickoff. Big blocks of seats still available and very moderate to downright cheap prices. It’s looking more like 50K butts in seats. Hope I’m wrong, but the secondary markets are usually a good indicator

About 900 now.

How many of those resales are going to go ahead and go to the game once they don’t sell their tickets?

I didn’t say USF was necessarily going to be a sell out. I just said it’s going to look full or at least close to it. But I could be wrong and just wishful thinking on my part. We’ll see.

Hope you’re right. This team deserves a packed house and a loud crowd.

No, USF isn't going to be a full stadium. My guess is 80% full. So 50K-55K.

Pretty sad that a program has to beg for 60K fans to show up to see a top #5 team play a top #15 team.

I understand there is a lot of other stuff to do in Miami on a Saturday, private school, small alumni base blah blah blah but how they can’t fill the stadium is wild to me.
