Miami v FIU game

Factcheck Debunking
  1. Most people complaining and selling seats live in Broward or WPB
  2. All the people complaining have seats on the 50 yard line at HRS
  3. Complainers are intrinsically rampant on CIS.
  4. All the people that say they are gonna watch the game from home cause of better viewing all have seats on the 50 at HRS.
  5. All of the above.

For being one of the new era ballparks, it offers almost nothing unique or remotely interesting. Unless you consider the vast emptiness of the entire upper deck as it lofts with the smoke from the vendors cooking for the nightly 2500 people. Or how about the hideous bright yellow and green colors throughout the concourses or the POS "artwork" that Loria paid a few million dollars for to sit in center field before management removed it? How about the club level that offers nothing worthwhile or the rotating group of restaurants that change every season (sometimes even in the middle of the year as they cannot sustain profitably there and close)? At least its in a beautiful area! A corner of Miami so well renowned for food and bar options that they've had maybe 2 tenants in the shops connected to the stadium since the park's inception. You can call me whatever you like, but you must not get around very often if you actually believe Marlins Park is a state of the art venue.

I’ve been to enough Baseball stadiums; in fact, I can do better than that, I actually worked for an MLB franchise, so I’ve been around. Like I said, you’re a moron if you think MP isn’t a beautiful, state of the art, ballpark. A lot of the Loria’s ****** colorful areas were removed. You’re complaining about the food, club level’s and suites? That’s laughable. You clearly have an agenda. There are many things Marlins fans can complain about but the ballpark isn’t one of them. You must be from Broward.

I'm from San Diego, but I've been living in Miami almost 20 years now. I've been to roughly 80% of the ballparks across the country. While I did not mention the suites as I have never sat in them there, I will say that part of the experience of the ballpark are the amenities and the food, but I'm sure you know that since "you've been around." Even the beer selection is limited there. My complaints about that dump go much further than that. The atmosphere is miserable, the traffic and security lines entering the stadium (even for a 10% capacity Marlins game), and the complete lack of places within walking distance for a decent happy hour or meal before or after the game all add to the misery that is Marlins Park.

I'll be there all afternoon tailgating for the game for nostalgia purposes as I did for over a decade, and I encourage everyone in the area to come support the team. Clearly, I won't change your mind if you think Marlins Park is "state of the art," but I hope you are at least not stubborn enough to realize that most disagree with you.

I actually don't think it's a bad idea to do this. Venue might not be ideal, but it's essentially another home game, but it's technically an "away" game.

Most don’t disagree. Most Baseball fans in SFLA love the ballpark. I literally seen the statistics from sponsors, season ticket holders and casual fans that gave outstanding reviews about the venue when the Marlins moved. You make valid points about parking and surrounding area. Everything else, you’re way off. The atmosphere sucks because it’s empty. It’s empty because the team sucks. Go to a major event like WBC game or HR derby and it’s loud as **** in there. Go read comments from players at the All Star game a couple years back, how they raved about the atmosphere. I’ll take their opinions over yours.

**** Grunt!!! They've been debunked...

We need to beat that a$$ on that once hallowed ground, then lay torches to that abomination of a facility.

If we're playing FIU we should play the game at their stadium. It should dissuade our AD from arranging such stupid away games.

I’m honestly NOT in favor of scheduling ANY games vs FIU in ANY sport, but there’s I think a kind of local “community citizen” pressure to at least keep the baseball and occasional basketball game scheduled.

With football, I see very little benefit, for Miami, to give a crosstown college the exposure, even though they will never really be an actual rival for recruits or even national prominence. I suppose part of me still resents how we were raked through the coals by the media for when we played them in the orange bowl, for a melee they started.

But playing a game in their stadium, to answer your original comment, is just an absolute no go. I think they seat something like 10,000. I don’t believe they even have actual seats there, more like concrete benches. There are better high school stadiums. In fact there are probably hundreds of much better high school stadiums around the country, especially in places like Texas.

Also, the home team is the one that benefits the most from ticket revenue split, and this would be the one chance to bring in some major ticket revenue for them, which is why it was always going to be held either at the hard rock or at the Marlins stadium.

But I’m in general agreement with your premise that we should schedule as few home-and-home games versus G5 teams as possible. That may not be possible with some of the top G5 teams like say for example Houston, but for the great majority of them we should not be playing away games with them, you are right

LOL... the seats I sat in last Saturday (sec126/row1/seats1&2) were field viewing terrible... if there wasn't the big screens I would have missed most of the game. There's no argument that the best viewing is at home on TV. Also, what ****es me off is that the stadium flashes crap on the big screens instead of showing the field... sometimes the play on the field has started and they're still flashing garbage on the big monitors... Ridiculous!
This is why I did the debunk post... people just incessantly talk shiit. This site is biitching and bullshiit central.

For the people saying that a football game at Marlins Park sucks, have you been to one? I went to the "Miami Bowl" a few years ago when USF played...cant remember..but USF was in it and I cant lie..it was a pretty fun experience. Wasn't as bad as I thought. Parking and Tailgating was a little weird but once you got into the Park it was pretty cool. Especially if you have lower level seats. And its a night game? Hey, it won't be as bad as most of you think. I promise you that.

Sadly, you're right on point...

Marlins Park looks like a school library / can opener because the GC had mainly buillt school buildings and jails. Bob Moss had no business being the main contractor on that job. He broke campaign finance laws with the county commish to get the contract.

Let's look at Bob Moss. He had a history of meddling in local elections in North Carolina and it blew everyone's mind when Hunt asked them to partnered with them to build the Panther's hockey stadium. At the time Moss only built jails, school libraries, and a few condos that ultimately were failures. They had just built the Palm Beach County jail, which was a complete failure. After 10 months PAST THE COMPLETION DATE, Palm Beach county had to hire a new contractor to finish the job. BOB MOSS COULD NOT EVEN BUILD A JAIL, yet he was asked to partner on a hockey stadium?

But wait, we see why they partnered with Bob Moss... again, he was funneling money from his company to politicians in Broward. He ended up paying federal fines and had to start a new company. So he relocated his family from NC to SoFla.

Then Bob Moss moved on to a condominium fail with the Tao Condos in Sunrise. Again, he could not finish the job, broke investors, and the bank took over.

Oddly enough, he gets the main contracting gig for the new Marlins Park. Oddly enough, Dade county commish Joe Martinez, who originally was fighting the stadium, started supporting it and Bob Moss. AND AGAIN, BOB MOSS WAS FINED FOR VIOLATING CAMPAIGN FINANCE LAW by funneling money to Martinez through his business.

For extra reading:

Marlins Park was never intended to be state of the art. It was an emergency build because Jeff Loria threatened to move the team. And he couldn't put any money into it because the "team was losing money". Let's not even get into the Mayor race, and how the stadium was used for leverage. But it should be noted that TAXPAYERS GOT NO VOTE

Then, according to WikiLeaks, Loria was lying about team finances. So he orders a third party review of the team finances by HIS OWN COMPANY. The SEC steps in and starts investigating.

Ironically, the SEC then ends its investigation when Jeff Loria's good friend, President Donald Trump announces that he wants Loria to be the US Ambassador to France.

Loria then sells the Marlins for $1.2 Billion. He bought it for $150 Million. That is over a 1 Billion dollar profit. Because he put absolutely NO MONEY into the building of the stadium, part of the agreement, was that Miami-Dade got 5% of the profit when he sold the team. That's $60 Million that should have gone to the county when he sold it. The county got $0 and are now suing Jeff Loria.

Loria played Miami taxpayers. That’s the ONLY story behind Marlin’s Park.

There is nothing "state of the art" about this:
