Miami to Open ESPN Events Invitational Against BYU

The University of Miami men’s basketball team opens up play at the Terry’s Chocolate ESPN Events Invitational against BYU on Thursday, Nov. 27, ESPN announced Tuesday. The game is set to tip at 5 p.m. and will air nationally on ESPN.



The contest marks the first game of the Magic Bracket as Georgetown and Dayton square off Thursday at 7:30 p.m. The final round of play takes place on Nov. 28 with games at 7 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. and will air on either ESPN or ESPN2...

Who were the notable players on that 1989 team? Didn't follow at all until 1998.
 
Not being doom and gloom, but BYU is gonna most likely be really freaking good, preseason top 10 at least. Roll the ball out there and see what happens, but I think that's an L, and probably an ugly one.

Wonder who we'll see in the 3rd place game.

No one of note except C Joe Wylie who got drafted and had a cup of coffee in the NBA but never did much.

Joe Wylie, a Soph that year from Washington, DC was a freakish athlete at 6'9. Opponents knew who he was on the floor.

Dennis Burns, a Senior, was pretty good too. A 6'6 G/F from New Jersey.

Another Senior, 6'6 F Eric Brown was the go to guy. Had led the legendary Boys & Girls HS in Brooklyn to two consecutive PSAL city championships.

Those three were top talents. Unfortunately,, not much else on the squad, although Jake Morton and Jerome Scott -- both Freshmen from the DC area, got some experience.
