Miami takes down Alabama in Game 1 of the Hattiesburg Regional 5-3

Miami kicked off the opening round of the Hattiesburg regional with a matchup against 2-seed Alabama. And with all the noise about their stumble heading into the postseason, the 'Canes shut out all the noise, defeating Alabama 5-3 in a thriller.



For the 'Canes it came down to getting the lead first and never letting go, a theme of this season.

Game 1 in the books and we are started the regional off with a bang in the 1st inning courtesy of Cuvet HR, plus the 5-3 dub to place us at 1-0 in the tournament. Right now Columbia is up on Southern Miss in the top of the 9th, 11-4. Unless the Golden Eagles launch a massive comeback in the bottom half of the 9th, we will be seeing the Ivy Leaguers come Game 2; which I like our chances to get the needed 2nd victory and hopefully a fast track to the super regional tournament.
