These articles are nice and all but now we have two threads about same topic. Anything writers can do to avoid this??
Expected but we should probably still act uninformed and boo them on a message board.this was normal. theyre adding an extra conference game.
For the sec: they get more money from espn, they get to say “sos” and get a 3 loss team into the playoffs. Please explain: What's the impetus behind the 9 conference game schedule?
Most Week 1 schedules are set and this is probably pointless analysis by me as games like Clemson/LSU and GT/Colorado could still be on the list to get cancelled... Maybe not since they already started the series and need to return the favor to the 2025 host..
But there's not a ton of options for week 1:
1. FAMU is currently slated for week 2 - that could get pulled up to game 1. I don't think they have a week 1 opponent yet.
2. We're scheduled to play FSU, UNC, and Stanford in-conference already and none of those 3 have a week 1 opponent. UNC goes to Dublin the week prior - so they're going to be off in week 2.
3. Currently, the only other 3 teams in the conference that do not have an opponent week 1 and not already on our schedule are SMU, NCST, and Virginia.
So we're either opening the 2026 season with FAMU or a conference game. Gonna go ahead and guess we get the cross-country Stanford matchup or the Noles in week 1. Most likely it will be the Noles because we already have 4 conference road games plus the ND game built into the ACC agreement on the road. A road game would give us what is basically 6 conference games on the road and 4 at home.
ND opens with Wisconsin at Lambeau FieldND again??
ND opens with Wisconsin at Lambeau Field
Could be a possibility. I'm sure NBC/ND would argue that they want that Shamrock Series to be their true opener.Heck Week 0 in South Bend
