Miami sets up visit with North Florida transfer forward Josh Harris

The Miami Hurricanes coaching staff is actively pursuing North Florida transfer forward Josh Harris, having scheduled a visit for Wednesday.

The 6-foot-8, 220-pound forward from Pembroke Pines, FL, had an impressive freshman season with North Florida, averaging 13.4 points and 7.1 rebounds over 22.6 minutes per game across 30 games, all of which he started, during the Ospreys’ 2024-25 season. He also recorded 21 steals, 17 assists, and 15 blocks.

Allen is going to be a bouncier/athletic 3/4 who can defend and rebound. Not as polished offensively. Harris is much more complete as a player at this stage, albeit played at a lower level of competition.

Both would complement each other well off the bench.

This is getting a bit played out at this point. UF just won a national championship with their top 3 pt shooter (Walter Clayton) at about 39 pct. The other top 5 shooters were in the mid to low 30’s.

Tre Donaldson is at 39% for his career. Tru Washington was at 34% this past season. Malovec in the mid 30’s and reasonable to expect one of Dante Allen/Lewis to be in the low to mid 30’s.

Still probably need another guy or two but you’re parroting a narrative

Not all percentages are created the same; Clayton shot 39% on 8 attempts a game, with a lot of them coming well beyond the line. Tre's at 39% for his career, but on only 2.5 attempts a game. Defenses treat those 2 players entirely different despite having an identical percentage. And UF also had Richard and Martin shooting 35%, but also high volume - 5.5 and 6 attempts a game respectively.

It isn't just making 3s that's important, its the shooting gravity that comes with it. If the defense knows you're gonna let it fly, they won't sag off of you as much, which opens up driving lanes. But if they know you're reluctant pull the trigger, even if you shoot a decent percentage, they won't respect the shot as much, which leads to a clogged paint.

This isn't some false narrative, its going to be a real problem for us. The defenses other teams are going to throw at us are going to resemble something you'd see in a middle school rec league. If we can't shoot them out of it, its going to be a long year.

Probably should have assumed he was going to land there. Ironically should be slotting in at the starting 4 spot that was vacated by our very own Malik Reneau
 
Indiana paid him 400k a year, he declined 750k a year from New Mexico. Don’t think we could’ve squeezed him into our budget
