“Miami goes out and lands one of the most coveted guys in SEC country,” said Rivals VP of Recruiting Steve Wiltfong. “All the SEC contenders loved and coveted him. It shows the ability that Miami has to win those types of recruiting battles — particularly on the offensive line. Jatori has the size and ability to mainstay on a championship level offensive line for years to come.”
Rivals National Analyst Chad Simmons, who is based in the Southeast, has seen Williams in-person and is very high on his blend of brute strength and athleticism at his size.
“The biggest thing for me with Jatori is probably how athletic he is for a guy his size,” Simmons said. “He’s a big kid. He’s a wide kid. He’s strong. He has good natural strength. When you watch him move as offensive lineman, whether it’s pulling, getting out in space or driving guys down the field, he shows how well he moves for a guy his size. He also plays basketball, runs the court well and shows how coordinated he is.
“The big part of his game is driving guys off the ball. He’s strong and has that initial punch. He needs to work on pass protection. He plays a lot of offensive tackle on the high school level, but I think, obviously, he’ll be an interior guy at the University of Miami. He can redirect. He can get out in space. Again, he’s very athletic.”
Simmons added that he could see Williams as an early difference maker in the trenches for Miami.
“He plays for one of the top programs not just an Alabama but also in the southeastern part of the country, so development will be there,” Simmons said. “He knows how to compete with good competition. He’ll come in with that body and the mindset ready to compete.”
