Miami Retains Entire RB Room; Jordyn Lyle, Marty Brown Announce Return

At any given point, at least one of them is going to be hurt, you have to assume. Mallory is not a lock to get carries year one...and CWH is a spot contributor at best. These things tend to work themselves out.
I know what you're saying, and I believe me I want depth.

Last year we had an inured RB in about 8 of our games & we were fully healthy in about 8.

Brown, Pringle, Lyle - each had games the back half of the year where they were completely cut out of the rotation.

If the RB's are good with that, cool. But like last year I'd expect there's gonna be games where an RB gets 10 carries, then 1-2 carries over the next 2 games (without much explanation why).

The rotation will be weird & inconsistent (but as long as we win that's all that matters).

I'm fairly shocked there was zero attrition form this room. Lyle has the potential to start somewhere and he knows he's starting the season no better than 3rd on the depth chart. I don't see how Hellcat gets carries in anyhting but garbage time barring injuries. I applaud their patience and dedication. Just unusual in the portal age for guys in a crowded room to stick.

Mario obviously believes a lot in Lyle and I'm sure Lyle knows he'll have every fair opportunity to earn snaps.

I'd expect him to be RB2 at worst to start the year.

The rotation is due to going with the "hot hand" and I have no problem with that.

In theory yes. Fletcher got hot in the CFP and we rode him as we should have.

Before that - these things didn't make sense:

Lyle - Syracuse (Game 9) - Lyle starts despite averaging under 4 YPC in 6 of his last 7 games. He was the opposite of the hot hand. Lyle fell behind Chris Wheatley-Humphrey on the depth chart the next week.

Pringle - Led us in rushing our last 4 regular season games. Averaged 6.3 YPC in those games. Then cut out of the rotation in the playoffs (I get it may be a blocking thing).

Brown - Only got garbage time minutes in our last 2 reg season games vs VT & Pitt. Not used at all vs Texas A&M. Not used vs Ohio St for 3 quarters until our last drive of the game. Then he touched the ball 6 out of our last 7 plays to seal the win.

The rotation is gonna get weird. It's unavoidable IMO.

I don’t know how we keep everybody satisfied here. Fletch is going to be looking for carries to build his case for the NFL and seemed to do best in rhythm
His case is made but the way we could rotate backs as needed can keep tread on the RBs tires till they get to the league.

Props to coach Merritt, they obviously trust him with their development and know he will play whoever deserves it.

And can we stop acting like we have never had a loaded rb room before lol, all of them made the decision to comeback and compete

Could 2025-2026 be a redshirt year for Lyle?

Would be huge going forward
Daryl Jones took a healthy redshirt year way back in '98 or '99 because the room was loaded and he wanted to improve without burning a year of eligibility. I doubt most kids would do that these days. And he's bound to be healthy by Summer if something's still bothering him unless it's like an ACL or something we didn't hear about.

Oh I mean this year that just passed

But looking at it now he appeared in 5 games. Sucks. think he missed it by one game

It’s really exciting to see Miami keep the whole RB room intact for next season, especially with guys like Jordyn Lyle and Marty Brown choosing to come back and build on what they’ve shown so far. That continuity should give the offense more flexibility and depth, and it’s a good sign that the staff believes in what they can do together. Even smaller details like smooth transportation and planning, something as simple as having reliable options like sallimoservice lined up for game days, can make a big difference in how you enjoy following the team. What do you think Miami’s run game looks like once everyone gets healthy and into rhythm?
