Miami Retains Entire RB Room; Jordyn Lyle, Marty Brown Announce Return

I don't understand the Lyle move. I don't understand it from his end nor our end. Seems the best thing to do for both parties is to move on considering who is returning.
He probably feels like he can play a lot in 2026. I'm sure the staff is expecting the same

I just dont think Lyle had many options. Staff also selling him on he was starter coing out of camp last year.

Why would posters assume that kids like Brown and Lyle didn't low key test the market and didn't like the teams that were courting them? Why the **** would Brown want to play at Nebraska?? Lol. The kid plays for a national title contender, is making 6 figures, and has a condo on the beach or downtown probably...give all that up for a starting role at Nebraska in the corn fields? And Lyle too. Im sure he didn't have very enticing options.

Pringle is a different story. Shocked he was convinced to come back. I don't know if you guys watched the Michael Irvin interview where he was sitting with UM players moms...Well...Pringles mom was on there and I wonder if Fletchers mom and Fitzgeralds mom didn't reach out to her. They all seemed very close and it wasn't for the cameras either. That family type atmosphere they have cultivated could have been what won out in the end.

Constant complaints about guys not wanting to stick it out and compete these days, then when someone does it people “don’t understand the move” or just say they must have had no other options.
This. Maybe we’ve got this thing in a place where kids want to play and not just use as a springboard. Maybe the kids were taking have a competitive nature and that makes it more likely a portion of them will want to stay and…compete.

"Lyle saw limited action this past season but still made the most of his touches."

Not trying to pile on the kid at all. Hope he gets right and back to how he looked in 2024.

But, come on lol.

Congrats to staff for keeping all these RB's. It's shocking to me.

If the RB's are happy here, believe in the team and coaches, and want to win at Miami - props to them. That's truly a culture shift.

But from a practical standpoint:

30 - RB's averaged 30 carries per game last year
15 - Fletcher avg. 15
15 - That's 15 carries left to split between Brown, Pringle, Lyle, CWH, Mallory

It's gonna be hard for the coaches to balance those carries.

If all 6 are here at the start of the season I'll be shocked again.

Technically shouldn’t this thread and the other one be on main forum? They didn’t enter Portal

At any given point, at least one of them is going to be hurt, you have to assume. Mallory is not a lock to get carries year one...and CWH is a spot contributor at best. These things tend to work themselves out.

If the plan is to make a deep run then you're going to need them all.

After watching what it takes to get through 16 games, I think there's plenty to go around. My guess if they don't overload Fletcher during the regular season and he sees very limited playing time outside of a handful of major games. I could see Lyle and Brown splitting carries and then Pringle getting those 5-7 carries per game to try and bust it open.

There's no Spring portal so no reason to think they won't all be here.

All of our running backs can start on a lot of other teams. Lyle might have the most upside and potential. Just has to prove it on the field

The portal confuses me - so I could be completely wrong.

But I won't be surprised if (at all positions - not just RB) there's some guys who will be on our spring roster that end up at other schools before the start of the season.

This just blows my mind. It honestly doesn’t make sense for all of them to stay. I’m glad they did but we feed two main backs and then a 3rd change of pace, some games. Where are 4 of them going to get carries? There are going to be games like A&M where only two play and the other two are wondering what’s going on. The freshmen coming in won’t even need a jersey next year.

have you ever heard of something called "injuries"?

I mean, sure no one in the history of college football ever gets hurt playing running back-

but maybe there will be a lightning strike in Miami.

I get people don’t like or agree with my comment but was it a stupid and or a dumb take lacking in logic?
The staff clearly felt going into the season that he was our best running back, so I don’t really see from our end why it would make sense to let him walk instead of bringing him back to see if he gets back to pre-injury form.
