After having a field day against the Stanford Cardinal, new Miami Hurricanes quarterback Darian Mensah now leads for the Heisman Trophy.

According to FanDuel Sportsbook, Darian Mensah has the No. 1 odds to win the most outstanding player award, sitting at +550. Notre Dame quarterback CJ Carr comes in behind him at +850.

Mensah couldn't have ask for a better start to the season. During yesterday's 45-6 win over the Stanford Cardinal, he was nearly 100%, completing 27 of his 30 passes, resulting in a total of 401 yards through the air and five touchdowns.

Mensah favorite target was no other than Malachi Toney. The two connected for 12 receptions for 234 yards and three scores. Cooper Barkate also chimed in on the day, recording four receptions and 67 yards.

FanDuel also listed Malachi Toney inside the top-10 to win the Heisman Trophy after going for a historic game against the Cardinal.

Mensah looked very poised in the pocket, throwing to wide open wide receivers with ease. He has the ability to place the ball all over the field and does a very good job at making his reads.



With Mensah putting the world on notice, he should able to keep this momentum going. The Miami Hurricanes will head back to Hard Rock Stadium on Thursday night to play against the FAMU Rattlers.

I said it from the first time I deep dived into his Duke tape. He reminds me of Joe Burrow. Doesn’t have a cannon arm, isn’t a world class athlete, but somehow, you can’t sack him, even when you think you have him dead to rights, he can slip away, never gets rattled, cool as ice, keeps his eyes downfield while avoiding the sack and still has the poise and proper footwork to quickly set his feet and deliver the ball right where it needs to go, and it’s always a catchable ball. The way he layers the ball is on an NFL level. Throws it before the receiver makes his cut and it lands right where he’s going to be. When you factor in the way Mali runs routes at a level even NFL WR’s can’t do, that’s a lethal combination.

Agree. And can buy time, which is interesting that he did almost all his damage from in the pocket. He didn’t even need to go into his full bag.

but watching all of his throws over from the game, I was like mannnn…the ball placement and the RPMs hit me as Pennington. Very underrated QB.
