Miami only paying 2.5-3mil for new coach?

The only reason that idiot gave that range is because he assumes Golden's salary is in that range. Golden may actually be over $3 million at this point though.

Those numbers were from 2013, correct?

See my post above for the relevant date ranges. Golden's contract year starts Feb 1 every year, but the school's fiscal year starts June 1. As a result, publicly available info on his salary crosses over 2 contract years for him. The $2.5 number is essentially 2 years old at this point though.

That should be plenty to get a quality coach. We're not getting Chip Kelly or Urban Meyer. But we don't need them to have success. Miami has had its best success with coaches that use Miami as a stepping stone, not as a destination job. Got dreams of moving up to the league? Come to Miami, get the best recruiting hotbed in the country and a national spotlight. It's one of the easiest places in the country to be successful at and can lead to a bigger payday. As Miami fans, we'll get to enjoy your success, get to call the school cheap for letting you get away, and then we will rinse and repeat.

The key to this strategy is to not have a totally incompetent AD. He needs to understand what Miami football is and how it succeeds.

butch will do it for food and living costs. lol

um needds to get over itself. they are trying to act like an ivy league school and academically UF is ranked ahead of them.

Miami needs to invest in the program by directing fundraising efforts towards athletics, freeing up ACC and ADIDAS monies for a real coach.

Miami wasn't built on mediocre coaches. We need a proven elite guy now and anything else is a waste of time.

And schools like Duke, Stanford, Northwestern and Cal are ranked ahead of Miami (and ranked in the top 25) in football, so our clueless admin should wise up and realize you can have success in both academics and athletics.
