Ahead of a busy Spring, one talented athlete from the state of Florida is narrowing his list of potential schools, and Miami remains under consideration.

Josh Johnson is down to six finalists: Miami, Florida, Nebraska, Georgia Tech, Iowa, and Wisconsin. He officially took a visit to Miami in January, posting a caption, "Great time at Miami today!!!!"

He told Witfong that his grandpa and uncle (maternal) both played football for Iowa. Mom was a volleyball player at Iowa.

His Dad went to Wisconsin.

He also said he had an uncle who went to Miami.

The Gators on3 writer posted a his own story. Slanted towards UF of course.

Growing up in Key West, the offer (UF) carried extra weight for Johnson. He said it meant more because of where he is from and how closely people around town follow college football.

“Half of my town are Miami fans and the other half are Florida fans, and then a little slither are FSU fans,” Johnson said. “When I got that offer, the whole town was really excited, at least half of the town (laughter). Florida is a great school, great academics, which is something I look for in a program, and I think it would be a great fit for me. It’s also in the state and not -30 degrees.”

He went on to say UF would be a definite top 3 while conveniently leaving out Miami the school he has already visited this year and has dates lined up for unofficial and official visits for.

I guess it would Miami and Iowa as his top 2 and Gates rounding out the top 3.
