Miami offered Aranda $1 mill a year

SO basically if Richt hadn't waited and offered him 3 weeks ago we would have Aranda.

Yeah Im sure we literally just pulled the 1mill offer out of our asses 2 days ago and offered...

Aranda being smart probably wanted to wait till after the bowl game to decide which did him the favor because LSU in panic mode is way over paying for him

Exactly LSU had to overpay for him, plus they have they think if LSU struggles again next year.. Which they might losing 7-8 starters on defense.. Miles will be gone.

Now it's not good enough that Miami was willing to spend 1 mill for a d-coordinator? Dude is getting paid 1.7 million, how the **** can you blame Miami (or any other school besides Bama) for getting outbid by that much?

Holy **** man.

It's like a kid at ToysRUs crying because parents put back all the toys he was tossing into the shopping cart.
LOL.

Lmao!!

At least we tried and for once an A for effort might actually mean something. The new president has shown that he cares enough to the point we are willing to spend and that is more important to me than anything else. Until we were ready to play ball with real money in today's CFB landscape, we never had a prayer of ever coming back. It appears that has changed.

Well no more complaining about Diaz. Miami was gonna drop a cool mil on Aranda who's gonna leave for an HC or NFL job in a year or two..

Diaz is good consolation and at least the admin went after who we wanted

I'm not sure Aranda's track record is really good enough to justify outbidding 1.53M/yr. He has what 3 P5 years as a coach in weak, homogeneous division? I'm glad we went after him, but LSU overpaid.

No not basically. Because your services have never been desired by high level head-hunters/recruiters you do not understand that Aranda was in the driver seat. We likely approached/offered (if even true) a long time ago, but because he is an Alpha male with marketable skills he was able to pump the breaks, see what else opened up, survey the landscape, create a bidding war perhaps, and go to the team he wished at the time of his choosing. See, people with true skills do not simply jump at the first bone that is thrown to them because they know that new bones will likely be tossed as well and they are good enough that they know the old bone wont be taken away. So, no, basically nothing you said is likely correct and it is indicative of overly-reductionist logic manifested by an unsophisticated mind.

Hey Poster someone needs to kick your sophisticated ***! Pretentious motherlover!

Aranda is the most overhyped coordinator in a few years. When matched up against good competition, his numbers are far from great. Your numbers should look good when you play against the likes of UMass, Tennessee Tech, western Illinois, Purdue, Indiana, etc all the time. When matched up against good competition, he is just a middle of the road guy....nothing special.

Between this guy and Diaz, you can argue that its a wash, but Diaz is better suited for the type of athlete we will get.

Lost 59-0 to osu in the big 10 championship game too

We are going to look back in 3 years and realized we dodged a bullet with Aranda. Thank god for the Bayou.

I'm in an unsure stance in Diaz. We've seen him really good, and really bad. One likes to think with the types of athletes we have down here, he may have the perfect style, speed and aggression, for the types of kids down here.

At,least we hired a coach with good experience going against the big boys. One thing we do know CMR doesn't mind firing that ***.

Look what Cardale did to him last year in the Big 10 championship game.

No one can name a coordinator who can just shut down every style of offense every week and every year..

Who tf are we expecting to hire? You're not going to 'shut down' great offenses, week in and week out, with any coach in the nation. When teams are evenly matched a good defense will slow them down and create turnovers. Especially at the best times.

but yall looking for a coach that will play a top 10 team with a spread offense and shut it down; as well as a power run/prostyle offense and shut it down.

Unrealistic yo.

Put the recruiting base in a scheme that fits the talent? check

TBH, It's hard for Diaz to fail with coach kool here. DB coach will say a lot. We get someone good there and it will be even harder for diaz to fail.

I will naturally reserve judgment but i don't hate the hire.

So LSU outbid us for Aranda and I assume they'll do the same with Raymond. It's the coaching equivalent of getting our hat knocked off the table instead of not being considered at all. If it's not enough to get the guys you want, then it doesn't mean s***.

Don't really care about being willing to spend more than we did in the past when it's still not enough to land top targets to fill out the staff. Especially when the fallback option at DC is so incredibly underwhelming.

Then donate more. Miami a mid-table, ****** ACC football program that has never won the conference has hired a coach from an SEC power, likely ponied up for an indoor practice facility, hired one the best DL coaches in the country, purged an incompetent staff, and possibly offered a DC candidate $1 million. This is a 3-4 year project, anyone with a brain knows that. If you were told in mid-October everything I listed, you would have been fapping on the front lawn like you did in middle school. This program was dead 2 months ago, and no we just lost out to LSU for a top -tiered DC, we are in good hands. Come back in 4 years and see where we are.

This is only a 3-4 year project if Kaaya leaves after his junior year. If he stays for his senior year, then I'd expect playoffs for the 2017 team. Richt is a top-tier coach bringing in top-tier assistants. He's gonna turn this around quickly.

Im just excited that the University of Miami offered $1 million for a coordinator. I never thought i would see that.

Miami can and will play ball to compete with the SEC payscale. We can't go over the top like the big boys...but we can compete.

Feels good.

If he is a plus recruiter, Diaz may be a better fit right now for this DC job. Miami is still building it's talent base back to were it should be. We need a beast recruiter to start winning these recruiting battles for defensive lineman, particularly DT. What's the last time we won a recruiting battle for a blue chip DT?

This is a very good point

Very true, even Saban and Smart get run out of the stadium at times. I will wait until the games actually start before I start hitching about this being a failed hire. Guy hasn't even step foot on campus. Richt has not even had his first practice with the team yet and people are complaining. LOL Just miserable *****.

The stupidity in this thread is the real fail. Stats can be misleading if you aren't factoring in situation, offense related factors, etc.

this board would have erupted in hate if we were Uscw fans when they hired Pete Carroll. I mean look at his stats as a hc before he went there.

Some me of you have short memories... Diaz was one of the hottest hc prospects before he went to Texas and it wasn't cause he sucked. That program was heading into a dumpster they still can't get out of, that's not all on him.
