Miami NFL Hall of Famers

The fact that Czonka is in the HoF and Ottis is not is criminal. Both played on 2 Super Bowl winning teams. Both were Super Bowl MVPs. Ottis had 10k yards rushing and had to most it on an awful Cardinals franchise.
I agree on OJ, one of my favorite Canes as we grew up 8 streets apart.
But Zonk was a beast. He lost several years of stats with the WFL and a horrid Giants team. Csonka also shared carries with Mercury and Kiick.

Csonka also played all but one year in 14 game regular seasons, whereas Anderson played all 16 game regular seasons.

If you extrapolate per game averages to the number of games Anderson played, Csonka would have more TD’s and yards.

You take Namath and Stabler out before Csonka. No one played the FB position better than Csonka.

This is why it’s difficult to compare different eras.

I think Ottis will eventually end up a senior entry.

I don't have an issue with Czonka in but if he is in how is Ottis out?

Take Bob Griese out before you remove Stabler or Namath.

Griese missed quite a bit of the dolphins undefeated season with a broken leg. Plus, he hardly threw the ball even for that era.

He was a game manager for Shula with a backfield with Mercury, Csonka and Kiick.

When Griese had to do it on his own in 1977, late in his career, he led the AFC in passing.

He also threw for 6 TD’s in a game in 3 quarters before Shula pulled him not wanting to run up an already ridiculous score on the Thanksgiving day massacre against the highly favored Cardinals. Strock played the entire 4th Qtr or Griese would have probably thrown 7 or 8 TD’s and tied Brees or hold the NFL record.

Griese 25,000 passing yards 192-172 TD/Int.

3 straight Super Bowls, 2wins

Namath 27,600 yards 173-220 TD/Int

1 Super Bowl, 1 win.

Valid points, and I’ve always understood the criticism of Namath in the HOF. Joe has a gold jacket because of his winning that first AFL Super Bowl and what that did for the AFL. He was an all-time gunslinger. First 4,000 yard season I believe. And if I’m not mistaken, the season TD pass record Dan Marino broke was held by Joe Namath. Might be wrong. The Jets were also a bad team since the Super Bowl win in the following the 1968 season.

Bob Griese is on my list of all-time overrated quarterbacks. His three Super Bowls and two wins were as a game manager, as you stated. Yes he did well later in his career, but that puts him in the Hall of Very Good. Far better supporting cast than Joe ever had. Earl Morall could have finished 1972 season and the Dolphins would have still gone undefeated.

I was a surprised Ken Stabler was not in the Hall of Fame sooner. I suspect some of his posthumous delay was his gambling connections. He was a better quarterback than Bob Griese, maybe the best quarterback in the AFC in mid-late 70s. Maybe.

Good stuff!

When you put Dre’s career stats next to Reggie’s I have a hard time seeing why Dre is in and there’s a debate on Reggie.

That’s not to say Dre isn’t deserving because he absolutely was/is… but as you stated Reggie Wayne not being in is bull****. Plain and simple.
Here’s my problem with Reggie not being in.
Every receiving yard leader above Reggie is in, except Steve Smith.

Multiple receivers below Reggie, including AJ, Cris Carter, Irvin, Andre Reed, Megatron, who played in same era are in.

I’m not listing WR’s that are in and below Reggie that played in different eras.

I’m also giving a pass on AJ, Irvin and Megatron because they were freaks, even if they didn’t have the numbers.

But why is Andre Reed and Cris Carter in and not Reggie?

They didn’t have to share throws with Marvin Harrison.

I really thought he’d be in by at least the third ballot. I understood him not making first ballot, but I’m crushed that it’s not going to happen.
