Last week during the cfp show Heather Dinich made the statement that the committee felt that ND was better because their analytics were “much better” than Miami’s. Well here are the new updated analytics after today’s results:

SOR:
Mia:14
ND:13

SOS:
Mia: 44
ND:42

GC
Mia: 6
ND: 5

Efficiency:
Mia: 7
ND: 5

These 2 teams are basically identical when it comes to analytics- why is it then that the deciding factor isn’t the H2H result?

The other hypocritical point is what the cfp committee says is it’s principles for selecting teams:
  • Strength of schedule,
  • Head-to-head competition,
  • Comparative outcomes of common opponents (without incenting margin of victory), and,
  • Other relevant factors such as unavailability of key players and coaches that may have affected a team’s performance during the season or likely will affect its postseason performance.

Given that the analytics (especially SOS since the committee explicitly states that) are nearly identical - why is H2H not carrying the day?

@DMoney pass this post along to everyone you know at the Hecht.
What makes this even more egregious. Let’s look at OU and Alabama.

SOR:
OU: 9
AL: 8

SOS:
OU: 12
AL: 11

GC
OU: 9
AL: 7

Efficiency:
OU: 13
AL: 10

But the committee in this instance is honoring the H2H result and placing OU above AL. Why is it that OU gets the nod over AL but we don’t get the nod over ND?

Common opponents:

Head to head: Miami
NC State: Miami 41-7 Notre Dame 36-7
Pittsburgh: Miami 38-7 Notre Dame 37-15
Syracuse: Notre Dame 70-7 (walk on QB) Miami 38-10
Stanford: Miami 42-7 Notre Dame 49-20

Miami outperformed Notre Dame in 4 out of 5 common games. Stats aside, this is impossible to ignore. It's **** near half the schedule that's identical. On the field, common opponents....it shouldn't even be a discussion.

It sure would be nice if we had an advocate in the room.
We do. But we need to get them the info they need. You can’t assume they can do this on their own.

I’m not joking. Put up all of those data points on a big giant poster, with our win against ND at the center of everything. Include how we beat every single common opponent, except Syracuse, by a wider margin of victory on there too.

It’s too much to ignore. They have to give us that spot.

I’m not joking, by the way.

@DMoney … make it happen!

Did those gaps on the silly rankings close that much?

If so, this is a wrap. We HAVE to be ahead of them.

Corruption

Saw a speculative ap poll whenit
Comes out has vandy jumping us
They were already ahead of us in AP. But their game yesterday was less impressive than ours against similarly ranked teams.

The fact is, the committee 100% knows the stats, the analytics, the common opponents, and H2H. They’ve just made it crystal clear that they do not care. They have an agenda and at this point don’t care about the heat because what is anyone going to do? It’s as corrupt as can be.
