The initial ranking of the 247Sports Top 100 for the class of 2021 was released today.

How did Miami and the class of 2021 do? Each of Miami's 3 early commits for 2021 made the cut and gained a 4-star ranking, with both DE Donell Harris (#14) and S James Williams (#15) already placing themselves in striking distance to earn a fifth star down the road. OG Laurence Seymore debuted at #62 overall after a dominating performance last month at Paradise Camp.

The high placement of UM's early commitments gave the Hurricanes the top spot in the 2021 Class Rankings that was also first generated today to coincide with the initial prospect rankings release. UM now has the top 2020 and 2021 classes according to 247Sports.

There were also plenty of Hurricanes' targets that made an appearance on the 247Sports Top 100, reflecting another deep pool of talent locally. In fact, 15 players from Florida made the list in total.

Without further delay, here's a handy, dandy list of the Miami commits and targets in the initial 2021 247 Top 100.

Miami Commits (Rank)

DE Donell Harris: 14

S James Williams: 15

OG Laurence Seymore: 62

Miami Targets (Rank)

OT Micah Morris: 18

OT Hayden Conner: 27

OT Bryce Foster: 29

ATH Shadrach Banks: 32

CB Corey Collier: 35

OT Landon Tengwall: 39

CB Jason Marshall: 41

WR Jacorey Brooks: 43

RB Amari Daniels: 44

LB Branden Jennings: 79

QB Brock Vandagriff: 89

OT Marcus Tate: 94

Thoughts

**Miami currently sits in very good spots for guys like Jason Marshall, Gage Wilcox, Branden Jennings, and Marcus Tate, who have all visited campus over the off-season, with Tate making multiple trips. Jennings is also the younger brother of current UM linebacker BJ Jennings and was a former teammate of current UM DT Jordan Miller at Sandalwood High in Jacksonville.

**Finding a QB in every class is essential and Miami has already started to zero in on Brock Vandagriff as their top target here. Vandagriff, who is from Bogart, GA, has yet to visit campus, but UM is hopeful that he can make it to Coral Gables soon. Miami was his first offer back in May, and since then Vandagriff has blown up, landing scholarships from Michigan, UGA, Auburn, and Tennessee.

**Of the players on the target list that I've seen in person, my personal favorite is WR Jacorey Brooks. He showed out at big camps like Rivals and the Opening Regional over the off-season. Brooks was a stud and didn’t seem out of place as one of the top-tier WR’s in attendance at these camps that both featured a deep receiver crop. He’s a future star and was snatching passes out of the air with his extremely enormous and reliable hands. Brooks also moves extremely fluidly with his 6'3" 170 pound frame. The Booker T. Washington receiver visited Miami over the summer for one of Mark Richt's 7-on-7 camps, but I think UM is going to be in a battle here. UGA, UF, FSU, and Tennessee are other early verbal offers for Brooks.

No offense, but Brock Vandagriff sounds like the end of a sentence that beings with "What ever happened to....?"

James Williams will be highly sought after, got to lock him up. He looks like a phenom, got that Sean T frame already

Keep waiting for top locals like Brooks to end this fighting for local top recruits. We already assume state of ga top talent like Vandergriff will choose their only home state team (gtech N/A).

I took a look at Amari Daniels 247 profile & saw that FSU was the only school listed as "warm". Is telly Lockette tight with his family too?

Regardless of how this class ends up years from now, congrats to the staff for doing a very good job identify talent early on and being on them. The two Texas OL are a great example, obviously the local kids as we. We might not get them all, but are fighting very early on for them! Its refreshing to see a staff that develops is recruiting in the present and looking ahead multiple years.

Marcus Tate at 94 is absolutely atrocious. Kid’s gonna be everything we hoped Navaughn was gonna be when he committed.
