Miami looking at throwing cash this portal cycle?

Feel free to merge to a different thread if need be, but I was watching the Cover 3 Podcast and around the 22 minute mark the start talking about Portal Buzz. Bud Elliot seemed to insinuate that Miami may not get Mateer, but that they are gearing up to throw big cash at portal prospects, and in particular mentioned that those prospects aren't in the portal.

This leads one to believe that we could poach some players that are currently in the playoffs. What are some players that there may be some underground conversations in place with or looking to entice to jump?

One or both of the Branch brothers from USC? I have no insight or contacts in recruiting or inside the program in general but I'm inclined to believe there is available money to be spent after our last recruiting class

he needs another year now. He was "good" this year but not "great" and so I think the NFL will want another year from him.

If we don't get Mateer, I'd be all for bringing in Ewers for a year while Nickel learns.

**** YES!!! He’ll look alot better is a system that doesn’t suck. There’s a reason why he was mentioned as QB3 this year if he came out and already being mentioned a 1st rounder in the 2026 draft.

He's probably a 2nd/3rd rounder at this point. Going to Miami would be a risk for him but if he's a betting man like Cam was, he should be able to see the end result.
