Miami LB Raul Aguirre Enters Transfer Portal

Yall must’ve saw more than I did but I also don’t know how to grade LB play. He was ok but nothing I saw that was special. He is a depth piece with a potential to earn more snaps due to injury or whatever.

If the staff wanted him the would pay up and keep him. No clue what the rotation looks like but it appears Toure, Smith, Wiley, Bonnor(don’t even know that is) are your 4 LB.

Maybe one of the young skids in the 2026 class but they are seem small. Still could bring in a grad transfer over the summer if needed.

Kid was solid but that’s about it. If he wants to got so a smaller school and start I can’t blame him
sorta this ... if he was like that wes would have seen less snaps ... not hating, just trust the staff at this point

Def not catastrophic but not great. There are only a few guys on this team with NFL potential at LB. Popo aint one of them. His spot has to be one Heatherman was looking to upgrade and if he is crying about Toure coming back that speaks volumes. I saw him as a solid backup piece, but the reality is the day he starts on this team is a failure in our pursuit to dominate.

the fact that he was trusted and got significant playing time at LB on a championship caliber defense in all playoff games and in the national championship means that he's worth keeping

I was coming on to ask -- Can anyone tell me a single memorable or impactful play Popo made?

I see a solid LB who doesn't run particularly well, doesn't cover all that well, and hits relatively hard but not as hard as other options we have.

We'll be fine.

Indiana won the natty in a 4-3 with 3 true LBs on every play. Their LBs were very smart, hit hard, and could cover well.

Our LBs were definitely physically this year, but they never seemed to have a clue about what was happening.

No instinctual feel for the game. No ability to impact passing lanes. No pass breakups.

And that didn't really change thru 16 games.

I've thought its been pretty obvious that from the day Heatherman showed up, he wasn't impressed with the LB room at all which is one of the reasons they went out and got Toure and Bonner instantly.

If these guys are transferring out, its 100% fine with me. We need to portal in some high IQ impact starters.

These threads are funny. The room was thin and a weakness to begin with, and we just lost a proposed key piece.

Plenty of time until the fall.

I remember Bonner on exactly one play, and he stood on his spot and didn’t move. I think it was Cuse threw a garbage TD right where he needed depth. He never moved. Like one of those practice dummies in the skeleton drill. Hope that was just a glitch.
Probably protecting how PFF was going to grade him on that play.

Remember, You can't penalize someone for making the wrong move, if they never make one at all.

assuming we don't keep him -

outside of a random Xavier Lucas situation this summer where someone just unenrolls then reenrolls at Miami, what he have at LB is what we got right?

no LB's currently in portal I imagine we'd chase
