Miami lands one of the top 2027 QB's in the country, Israel Abrams

We have gone after plenty of top HS qbs. We went after Julian Saiyan, Dylan Raiola & Air Noland in the 2024 class, we also went after Moore and Nico in 2023.

According the Husan Longstreet’s father, we went after him in HS too.

Thankfully we got Nickel and Coleman committed early so we didn’t have to scramble around like many p4 programs are doing right now.

Luke Nickel was a top qb. You guys get too caught up in rankings. That was a **** good evaluation by Dawson to lock that up before his junior season.

He won states in Georgia back to back years as a junior and senior. Maxpreps 2024 Georgia player of the year. Went 13-2 as a junior; lost to Western (10-14) and North Cobb (27-42) despite throwing a combined 39 for 61; 454 yards; 2 touchdowns and no interceptions.

Beat Colquitt County (Ny Carr + Landen Thomas), Grayson and Walton all back to back to back to win the state title. 2nd most passing yards in Georgia, 34th nationally. 39 TDs and 5 INTs.

Then has a better senior year. . . Goes 15-0 with wins against Buford, American Heritage, Roswell, Lee County and Langston Hughes.

Would’ve been a much harder recruitment if we didn’t lock that up early.

We recruited Dia Bell in the class of 2026. He chose Texas. He was the only quarterback above Coleman. 3 weeks after he chose Texas, Coleman committed.

Coleman lost in the state championship to Malachi Toney at qb & Heritage — who Nickel’s team beat 28-37 when Bell was at qb. Five star Bell went 15 for 26, 157 yards, 2 TDs no INTs. Nickel went 16 for 25, 246 yards; 2 TDs no INTs. I bet Heritage’s defense had a whole lot more D1 players. They beat Jones (Coleman’s school) back to back years to win states. Bell is a superb quarterback and has a more NFL physical profile; just pointing out the facts of the matter.

Coleman was so good as a sophomore that he made his coach split reps between him and a senior quarterback committed to Arkansas who was fresh off of making the Elite 11. Coleman was named the starter going into game 1; he had 186 passing attempts to Trever Jackson’s 101. Jones went 11-3 the year before Coleman became the starter.

There were 200 quarterbacks in the state of Florida who had over 1.4K passing yards last year. Coleman had the highest completion percentage at 76.4%. He ranked 26th in passing yards (2.7k), and additionally was one of a dozen or so of those 200 qbs to have 3 or fewer interceptions. Will Griffin, enrolled to UF, had 2. Neimann Lawrence had 1 and Coleman had 3. Coleman was a top qb.

Emory and Judd can’t **** with Coleman and Nickel.

Why would he transfer to Miami from Oregon . Nickel wad better than bell by a long shot in that game . Wasn’t even close who the better qb was

Dylan Raiola wouldn’t transfer from Oregon to Miami. I am pushing back against the poster who said we didn’t even attempt to go after “top quarterbacks,” until this cycle. We did in ‘23 (Nico Iamleava, Dante Moore, & Jaden Rashada) and ‘24 (Dylan Raiola, Air Noland & Julian Saiyin); we just didn’t sign them. Then the stats, wins and elite 11 invites prove Coleman and Nickel were top quarterbacks as well.

In reference to that tweet; it was made in 2024 after his freshman season. The fact that the rumor was coming from a national reporter was used to illustrate that our relationship with him was longstanding.

We had a few misses lately, which stings, but this class is still off to a fire start. Linear and Abrams are most likely ending up 5 stars. Even throwing stars out the window, evals have been on point. Wel crush it regardless and outperform all the teams that are outspending.

As a huge Mario critic after his first couple of seasons, he’s earned the trust now. Think we have a dynasty on the way.
