Miami is tied for last in the country in fumble recoveries

Of all the statistics to worry about, this is the least of them. I'll take a solid tackle any day over trying to knock the ball out just like the pass break up is better than going for the interception. Sure, the turnover is nice, but the miss can be catastrophic and impacts another statistic, explosive plays given up.

It’s extremely frustrating, but teams just don’t turn the ball over against us. I am convinced we used up 90% of our turnovers for the decade back in 2017.
We can barely line up and not be out leveraged, pass players on or tackle in open space before we can get to be a punishing defense that forces turnovers..

Not even talking baby steps here

We run more plays, we are very highly ranked in time of possession and we are excellent on 3rd down stops. All of that means fewer fumble creation opportunities .

Might have been mentioned, but the duke Blue Lispies are great at creating turnovers.. doesn't mean dill without scoring or playing the other parts of football.

It means their defense keeps them in the games because they create turnovers, this isn’t talking about the entire team

It’s one aspect of the game, and turnovers matter

Duke is #1 in fumble recoveries @ 10 with 15 forced.

For those of you who are on the forced fumble side…
Colorado State has 18 forced fumbled with only 5 recoveries.

It’s great that a D can knock the ball out, but useless if your not getting the turnover.
Active, aggressive defenses get those.

If we could actually get more sacks instead of constantly whiffing on QBs and/or letting them out of jail, I bet we would have forced at least 3 more QB fumbles by now.

We're 7th in the country in sacks.

Of all the things to complain about, that definitely isn't it

Turnovers are random. A team with 18 forced fumbles and only 5 recoveries is just unlucky.

Agree, but you got to get those.
We’re 1 for 5.

They're random. This is like saying you've got to win the lottery, in a sense. Keep forcing them, and hope for regression to the mean. Just been a little unlucky to this point. Forcing them is what can be controlled.

Leaves lots of upside. What can I say, I’m an optimist. You could say that with almost every position group. At 8-0 not a horrible problem in my opinion. As long as they all get better and FAST!

Go Canes!

I’m with you. It’s the bounce of the ball.
But the percentages tick-up when there’s 11 hustling to that ball.
On the offensive side, Jacolby’s recovery/TD vs Clemson is a good example.
