(BTW, I always kinda liked that movie, seriously, c'mon it had the Exxon Valdez and Dennis Hopper was great!)
Alright, now that Im done watching the fights I can type out a few things. Not going to go into great detail about that quagmire we just witnessed but honestly, Im not even mad. At this point, I know what we have on our hands. As Ive stated many times before, we're in Richtbation - a form of probation that has nothing to do with the NCAA. Im not even mad at Deejay Dallas, Nkosi or Cager. This goes FAAAAR beyond them or a few plays here and there. The players - even the ones who are really struggling - are good by me. It's OK, that they can't overcome this corching they're receiving.
Folks, until real changes are made - we are finished. Miami is nothing more than an old 30 for 30 subject that we can reminisce on. Miami is now 2-7 in their last 9 vs Power 5 programs. It is what it is. Again, Im not even upset, to me, you might as well enjoy the farcical nature of this. I mean, life is too short, this is just sports, right? I mean, Richt and his leadership is a clown show. , you might as well get a few chuckles out of it. I know I did tonight on the Gameday board
Just a year ago at this time, Miami was defeating Vatech and then Notre Dame. They were THE hot program but like a waterfall or oasis in the desert, it was all a mirage. It was all a dream, we read Word Up magazine, ****
My boy @The Franchise thinks Richt is the old grandfather that needs to have the keys taken away. Yeah, agreed, but Im not sure that's going to happen, I think he's still untouchable like Elliot Ness even now. To me, he needs to be that old groundskeeper in the the Bad News Bears sequel that just pretends to be the coach as the kids get dropped off to the Astrodome and waves to the parents( glad Kelly Leak and his pops played expertly by Bill Devaney made amends at the end)
But there's one thing I will harp on from this game that really crystalizes how out of touch Richt is - the last drive. That was absolutely the worst, most illogical, inept 2-minute drive I have ever seen. From the lack of tempo, the play-calls, to basically everything. You can argue all you want about execution, players, etc - but that right there is all about the head man and how he sees the game. And what was maddening is that down by 8, you needed to make sure you left yourself enough time for a possible onside kick if you didn't get the 2 point conversion.
I can honestly say this is one of the worst jobs of coaching I have ever seen at Miami. Again, print out a roster of this years team and look back in a few years and see how many guys get drafted. Im willing to bet outside of Clemson, nobody will have more than UM.
(Speaking of shipwrecks, remember the Greek cruise liner that got into a snafu several years ago? Can someone make me a meme of that with Richt as the captain? Thanks in advance)
Anyways guys, I'll be here next week. Yeah, Im a fan, I can't help it. Ive been through worse. As @DMoney once said to me,"hey, we only get 12 of these a year, Im not missing them." I can't help it, this is a part of my fall ritual now. I'll watch - but I dont necessarily have to like what I see.
But I aint even mad, nowadays
