To be fair, near the end of the third quarter, Wake had scored every single time they had the ball by that point in the game.

But they had only had the ball 4 times. Because they methodically march downfield on offense, and allowed Purdue a ton on defense.

They just didn’t have the ball much.

I said the same thing after the first Stanford drive and the score is not indicative of the fact we were still getting eaten alive on the same concepts all game. No adjustments came. Stanford just sucked so bad that they couldn’t get out of their own way and then we made them one dimensional by continuing to score.

The name of this sport is rushing the opposing passer and protecting your own. We can’t get anywhere near opposing QBs without 3 and 4. This year is gonna go as far as 10 and 1 and the rest take us. This is gonna be a significantly worse defense than last year. I expected worse…how could it not be? But I’m worried I was too optimistic.

But we can’t get any pressure with 4 and our backers can’t cover a soul. Score 40 tonight and make them try to be that efficient. They won’t be able to, imo, but this defense is gonna cost us a game this year.
