Miami Hurricanes Roster Comparison 2026 vs 2025

I'm a little bearish about LB, TE, and OL--otherwise, we are loaded. I was really sad to see Popo go as he could have started.
I don't think he would have started and he knew that which is why he left. Popo was strictly a MLB and when Mo Toure announced his return it became academic. Popo doesn't play Wes Bissainthe's position. The entire offseason will be one big competition but I would expect Mo Toure to start in the middle with Chase Smith backing him up. The WLB position is the one to watch as Kellen Wiley will battle the true freshman JJ Edwards and redshirt freshman Ezekiel Marcelin for the spot. Karsten Busch won't arrive until the summer and I think he will play MLB. I don't buy any of this stuff about Jordan Campbell being a DE. He will play LB here likely WLB. Truth be told I have no idea where Coach Hetherman puts any of the above outside of Mo Toure and Chase Smith but speculating is fun.

Can someone explain the Alofaituli situation? I thought there was a lot of hype around him but I feel like the only time I saw him was as a lead blocker. And nobody seems to think he'll start next year.

I understand it's hard to not feel confident about this team on paper, besides the OL. Every team is different though and we lost all of our leaders. New guys have to step up. Our fanbase is reminding me of ND's fanbase this season coming off their NC loss. They were ****y and arrogant. Even with a new unproven QB, they thought they were winning the NC. Communication with them was painful going into our game. That appears to be our fanbase right now. I will stay grounded!
We don’t know if the OL will be worse. What if it’s better?
Mark Fletcher isn’t a leader?
Did you just compare me/us to ND fanbase? Blue Lot. Now.

He was highly regarded out of H.S. - considered one of the top Inside OL in the country.
He was a FR this past year and Lineman frequently don't do much there first year or two in College - it's a "grown man" position.
He's smaller (certainly shorter) than what he's listed. Legitimately probably 6' 280 or so. That doesn't mean he can't contribute at this level. Mirabal and Cristobal really wanted him of of H.S. and I'm sure they knew his true height/weight back then.
He's likely Rodriguez' back up next season. But Rodriguez has been injured a lot, so there's a possibility SJ will be pushed into action.

He got a ton of snaps this year. Who exactly was he supposed to play over? I think the staff views him as their center for the future though

He shrunk when he hit campus which caused concerns if he could be an every down center. A very odd situation all the way around.

He played some mopup time OL. He's undersized but they like him.

He looks very short. He might be tough as nails and make all the right line calls, but no way he starts at center next year.
I was shocked when I saw him roll out there in his first goal line stance. Dude doesn't look the part. How does that happen? They trust him enough to put him on goal line situations, but man, homeboy needs a growth spurt. (should i hit pause here?)

LOL

What do you call

Mark Fletcher
Malachi Toney
Mo Toure
Josh Moore
Okunlula
Marty Brown
Fitzgerald

they aren't leaders?!?!

Another thing about SJ - Coming out of H.S., I believe he's the third most highly ranked player of all our OL. Cantrell and Samson obviously both 5 stars and after that SJ was a high 4 star.

The biggest win going into next season is that we retained nearly our entire coaching staff. As much as talent wins games, so does coach continuity.
