That's very interesting. 06 was a "talented" team Herby picked to win it all. I wonder what happened. Olson was the OC? He was terrible. No Pat Nix, but terrible.

A poor start by then-standards, but still 5-2 after seven games. However at that point the miniscule wide receiver room that was at 6 to start the season had fallen to just 3. Miami could no longer field a credible passing attack.

I’m looking at that QB “room”.
Wow.

Another thing that stands out is the 0/1 year players and their eventual impact, or lack there of, on the team.

Was this the year Monroe played WR?
Yes. Because Miami under Larry Coker failed to recruit wide receivers at adequate quantities after 2002. Just five in four seasons:

2002
Signed:
Ryan Moore, Akieem Jolla, Sinorice Moss, Roscoe Parish
Lost: Darlyn Jones,

2003
Signed:
Darnell Jenkins
Lost: Andre Johnson

2004
Signed:
Lance Leggett, Khalil Jones
Lost: Kevin Beard, Jason Geathers,

2005
Signed:
Lost:
Roscoe Parish

2006
Signed:
Sam Shields, George Robinson
Lost: Sinorice Moss, Akieem Jolla

Yes - Miami quarterback recruiting under Coker was surprisingly limited:

2002:
Marc Guillon .9000
Brock Berlin .9998

2003:
Kyle Wright .9984

2004:
Kirby Freeman .9440

2005:
None

2006:
Daniel Stegall (.8087)
Lost commitment of Pat Devlin after the change in offensive coordinator

How the heck was Kirby Freeman rated a 9440?

Does anyone have the "lowlight" video of Freeman vs. Tennessee?

I'm pretty sure the video had, "I'm a loser," by Beck, playing over his 1/14 outing.

Was one of the saddest and most hilarious videos I have ever seen.

Dude, Kirby Freeman was a high 4 star kid and Kyle Wright was Arch Manning

Remember that 2006 team like it was yesterday, was sadly still in the hope phase that we would be back.

I remember that squeaker at Duke…they were driving down the field and about to score the winning TD, I remember thinking to myself “Wow, Miami football is actually about to lose to Duke”…..then Willie Cooper had a game-clinching pick which he tried to return for a TD but ended up stumbling, fumbling and getting injured. Just an abomination of a season/era, from the administration down to the roster and coaching.
