I want Butch, but I'm not dead set against looking for someone else who's established, or a person without UM connections. However, if we aren't getting Butch then Chud, Mario, and the Chimp have no business being considered. The fact that James holds Chud in high regard is more proof that he doesn't have a clue what he's doing.
 
Kid I have known all his life played for Bama a couple of years when Shula was there told me Shula was too soft. He is a very good Assistant coach but does not have the personality to be the head guy. He is not the right choice but could be a serious threat to get the job.

Rich Kotite is what Golden is now.. That said, I don't want Shula as HC. Coordinator, yes.
 
I wonder how/why Blake holds chud in such high regard - they've never crossed paths professionally at Um
 
Weird why no assistants on NFL staffs are being mentioned as potential candidates.

Hue Jackson comes to mind

As a mere fan, I'd be willing to go toe to toe with probably just about anyone in our current admin re: football decisions.

The point is there are no hard and fast rules. Collect m'f'in information and make a detailed, unemotional analysis. As if it were an actual business. Now, the problem with hiring a marketing background guy to make these decisions is that they often base a lot of what they do on their emotions and the emotions of the customers.
 
Jankovich...ah, the good old days. Our AD's have gotten progressively weaker with each hire, most likely by design. I like how he told ticket boy how a real AD would do it.

He said James doesn’t need to hire a search firm (James hasn’t said if he will) because “that’s what you’re getting paid for.”

It's hilarious how bad a staff Golden put together. I'm sure it was a conscious decision defensively so no one would challenge him and D'O
 
Couple things for Sam. JJ sucked at first, losing first 3 Bowl games including two NC games. Oh, BUTCH DAVIS recruited JJ's teams. Second BUTCH DAVIS recruited the team Dennis won 3 NCs with. So, BUTCH DAVIS recruited the teams that won AL THREE of Sam's NC. Give the proper respect. What did Sam accomplish after he left the comfortable confines of Butch's recruiting?

Oh, as I recall JJ's version of his hiring, it was more like Coach L. Sam ran into him in an elevator and asked if some OTHER coach would like the water. JJ said "I like the water! Offer me the job." Dennis left us in a mess that Butch then cleaned up. Result ooops ANOTHER NC! Without Butch Davis we might only have ONE NC. So stop talking crap and HIRE BUTCH>

Perfect personality for blake. Does anyone think Blake wants to deal with an alpha male at work? He already deals with one at home. He will look and find the least alpha male there is.
