I’m just not emotional about it because it’s what I expect from the Herald. We’ve never gotten any support from them, which I think is the real issue here. Like others have said, they could have taken the opportunity to debunk the false narratives that are out there, speak about the good things Bain has done, and put a positive spin and him and perhaps the deceased as well, if acceptable with her family. But by simply reporting facts, they leave us ****ed and the hounds thirsty for more blood, continuing to think there’s a cover-up.

So what’s the solution here? This has been going on for at least three or four decades. Has the Hecht just decided the relationship isn’t worth fixing so they keep them at arms length? Is there anything the fans can do to help?

Print media is dying. They need stuff like this to get clicks. They don't really care if it's from another fanbase..

You’re right. Negative media is shown to get more clicks than positive media. This is not new, and even pre-dates social media and the internet.

This is pure bull****. I’m not confused about anything. You and your boyfriend seem to be confused about Miami keeping something “under wraps“, so now you’re playing semantics and projecting your own confusion on me, without any factual basis or even guesswork about how something like this was accomplished.

How did Miami keep “the information from becoming a big story“?

Exactly how do you do that with something that’s public information that can be accessed by anyone at any time. I mean, you just hate Miami and want them to look bad here? This is one of the lamest rationales I’ve ever seen.

Print media is on life support as folks attempt to find ways to profit off digital. Curious what, if anything, Ft Lauderdale & Palm Beach did with the story.

There’s no statutes of limitations on when a police report or story can no longer be reported. Plenty of stories are dated due to being reported off newly unearthed documents or reports.

You need to be aware that "gotcha" journalism from pseudo X reporters exist.

Also would it be ironic to dig deeper and see if there was a motive behind this "revelation" that has been public record for 2 years, and if Bain was being selected in the 5 th round would this have been reported?.

My question is why now?....who benefits?....and if they knew all this data why was it reported inaccurately......."dangerous driving" is a lot different to "reckless driving" which happens to be a felony......how could a public record document be a coverup by the University?

Don’t give the Herald clicks. Seems like it happens every draft cycle to someone. Kudos to Mario for this never being a disruptive issue.

RIP to the young woman and hopefully her family can find peace.

Early on, one of the board’s alleged media authorities pitched a fit claiming this wasn’t news, suggesting the fatal accident happened two yrs ago & thus is not newsworthy.

Not aware of a statute of limitations re: news. As for the questionable character who first brought this to the public’s attention, it unfortunately doesn’t matter if he’s the second coming of Charles Manson. Someone tipped him off to the police report & he’s simply put out the facts.

Surprised others in the media haven’t been more thorough following up. Obviously there were two other Miami players as well as a second young woman who was initially hospitalized.The other driver is identified. The police report provides plenty of contact info & details that could easily be pursued, not to mention a second accident involving Bain last October.

We should probably thank the Herald for its simple rewrite of the initial story.

Perhaps understandably, Miami declined comment on this accident as well the Aldarius Hayes accident last year resulting in three deaths & an earlier accident Wes was involved in (he was a passenger & struck by another driver).

Would the recent story have gotten out if Bain were only projected to be a 5th rd pick? Of course it would. College football is big business & a prime news target. A high-profile Miami player makes it juicer, but these stories routinely get out & in this case not likely to impact Bain’s draft status.

Why & how the police report found its way into the online reporter’s hands is the great mystery. The timing is clearly not by accident. Someone gave him the police report or told him where to find it. What was the motivation . . . a rival agent wanting to push down Bain’s status to benefit his own client . . . a college program ****ed at Miami & Mario . . . a program looking to gain advantage in a recruiting battle, etc?

Hopefully Mario knows or will find out.
