True. Although in my mind, I like to remember the 2001 Canes as dominating every opponent they faced that year.
The offense also went to sleep at times in the VT game. They were pretty good on defense but we just took our foot off the gas when we went up double digits. People forget we had to survive Ernest Wilford, who was a very good player, dropping a 2pt conversion right in his hands that would have tied it. And we couldn't run out the clock after that. We needed an Ed Reed pick to seal it
