The Miami Hurricanes have added another talented defensive back to their recruiting board this week, extending an offer to 2028 four-star cornerback Xavier Bowman.

Bowman, a Knoxville native, has quickly become one of the hottest defensive back prospects in the country. The 5-foot-11 corner is already viewed as one of the top cornerbacks in the 2028 class and has seen his recruitment take off over the last several months. 247Sports currently has him as the No. 139 overall player in the 2028 class, and a top-15 cornerback in the entire class.

Miami is the latest major program to jump into the mix, joining a growing offer list that includes Georgia, Tennessee, Florida State, Florida, Arkansas, Vanderbilt, and Indiana.

It’s easy to see why schools are lining up. Bowman is a stud, isn’t afraid to be physical at the line of scrimmage, and has the speed to stay with receivers down the field. His ball skills have also stood out early in his high school career, helping him become one of the more talked-about defensive backs in the Southeast.

The Hurricanes have made defensive back recruiting a priority under Mario Cristobal, and getting involved early with Bowman could prove important as his recruitment continues to gain national attention. Miami has recruited Tennessee well in recent years and is hoping to build a strong relationship with the talented cornerback before his process reaches another level.

With multiple programs already involved and more expected to offer in the coming months, Bowman is shaping up to be one of the hottest names to watch in the 2028 recruiting cycle possibly.

For now, Miami has officially entered the race for one of the country’s top young defensive backs.
