Miami drops to No. 8 in latest AP Poll

Who cares where Miami ranked. Win the ACC and you are one of the top 4 teams in the country.
If we go undefeated and lose in the ACC championship game on a last second field goal everybody will be singing a different tune.

The way the SEC teams get factored into the equation is outrageous.

Think about my scenario and a 2 loss Georgia gets in because they lost 2 “close” games to Bama. Bet … that happens or even some how a 3 loss team from the SEC gets in. Someone that plays BAMA, Georgia, Texas all close.

Yes the optimal thing is GO UNDEFEATED. And handling business avoids that. But there will be some more close games and BET next time the ACC refs will be perfectly happy with a CANES upset.

UGA might, if they lose nailbiters to Texas and Tennessee possible they get in, but only if everyone else outside SEC has multiple losses. We go undefeated regular season and lose acc champ game we still get in. If that loss is to Clemson and they win out, not only will we get in, that might be what pushes a 3 loss UGA in, that dominant win over Clemson. 2 loss UGA getting in for sure.

The Miami Hurricanes fell to No. 8 in the country, dropping past both Penn State and Oregon.

Next up are the California Golden Bears, who are coming off a bye week after losing to Miami's rival the Florida State Seminoles. ESPN College GameDay will be in town to cover the event.

Every team ahead of us plays another team ahead of us. All we need to do is win.

Georgia being ranked that high is a joke.
I get your sentiment. Let’s swallow the truth pill here, I watched the game between Bama and Georgia. The product we put on the field against VT, would have been crushed gazillion to nada by either team. We would have lost more players to injuries, some worse against either juggernaut. We need a couple more years on this path with Mario before we can hang with the big boys. I hope I’m proven wrong as the season goes, but I don’t see how. I love my Canes, but I saw the limitations vs VT.

What I saw was poor coaching by Guidry and bad effort by the rest of the team. Cam was off. Defense tackled terrible. We got out-schemed. Not enough effort on the d-line or the o-line.

Every one of those things is correctable. I need to see them come out and blow the doors off Cal.

I sure hope so. Another lackluster performance is gonna get CISers screaming doomsday…

But look at who we've beat...Florida is our best win, and they are 2-2. VT is 2-3 and lost to Vanderbilt, Sout Florida is 2-3 and just got throttled by Tulane yesterday so the strong game against Alabama is forgotten. Like it or not, Penn State beat a ranked Illinois team, and we've not beat a ranked team. Oregon has struggled but beat a ranked Boise St team and is starting to get things in gear.

Recency factor is a real thing, but doesn't matter as long as we continue to win
Your reasoning is very sound. We can’t be thumping our chests if we just keep in mind the facts poster listed. It’ll bring us back to earth.
Keep winning, win the ACC, get in the playoffs and then we’ll reassess.

Our team has some very good pieces and I would love seeing it all come to fruition.

if UM gets punished for an "ugly win" vs VT then,

where was UGA's punishment for beating UK by 1.
where was oregon's punishment for struggling with idaho
where was PSU's punishment for struggling with bowling green.

if the punishment is only a drop for the week after, does that mean we jump 2-3 teams *IF* we handle cal?

We will get more credit for vtech if they turn their season around, Kentucky is way more of a quality win because they went tooth and nail with lsu, georgia and beat ole miss. Psu just beat 4-0 Illinois

Our wins just have to age better to help our week to week rankings unless we just keep blowing teams out its that simple.

Usf just got killed by tulane and even tho i think vtech is better than their record they entered 2-2, their two wins are marshall and old dominion, close game with mizzou but they lost to Rutgers who is good but not ranked. And they lost to vandy who lost to georgia st and their other win besides vtech is alcorn st

I'm glad someone sees it...

I should be ****ed off. Georgia should drop much lower. Georgia struggled against Kentucky. Us in Alabama have a common opponent that Alabama struggled with. Really we should be top five.

However these players have nothing but sunshine blown up their asses all the time. I'm glad we dropped. With the new playoff format it doesn't really matter.
That same common opponent got blown out by Tulane 😭🤗

Nobody after the top 5 Miami cant beat. If Miami could win the ACC and get the bye would put Miami in a great spot. The top 5 are different animals. Ohio st has not looked dominate to this point.

Nah we gotta push back on stuff like that. They're gifting the #1 and #2 spots to the SEC or Big 10 and it matters because the higher your seed, the easier your playoff run will be.

Georgia has no business being ranked above unbeaten teams like Miami, Oregon, Penn State, etc. and it just goes to show that if Miami is unbeaten and Georgia wins the SEC with one loss, they might seed Georgia ahead of us.

Can't be having that, gotta push back in public spaces.
Who wins the game if we play UGA? or if they play Oregon or PSU?

We might get to find out. The difference between finishing with the #1 seed and the #3 might be the difference between playing Boise State vs playing Georgia in the first round after the bye.

That’s exactly what the playoff projections show right now,
