Miami Defense

Hetherman is literally coaching this defense with duct tape and super glue considering the injuries to the secondary. This has to be one of the best coaching jobs we've seen.

People here hate the bend and not break defense because it gives them Al Golden and Mark D'onofrio PTSD, but more often than not, Hetherman has made it work, shockingly so.
the one common denominator here is heatherman. he is ridiculously good at his job.

You people do realize Bryce was guarding 2 NFL WR and did ok. He will improve.
He’s not getting near the credit he deserves for becoming a solid level corner mid season after playing and training to play free safety primarily. Scouts will give him a boost for this

Free safety and corner probably are the two most different positions as a db. I think even higher of him now, some of the plays he gave up he looked gassed from the tempo its hard to maintain your technique thru fatigue at a position you’re not used to

We need to make him the highest paid coordinator in college and lock him up now!

Need Fitzgerald back at his natural spot

The LB’s were outrageously good tonight, chase smith in particular was a beast. He’s taken a lot of crap from this board, but dude balled out tonight.
That was a perfect offense for him & Tourre to play against. If u wanna line up & play in a phone booth they will shine. Their problems are when they get put in coverage

3 Of top 4 corners out man. Every team would have issues without 3 of their 4 corners and having to move your best safety to corner.
I agree with what you’re saying, but to give up 1st downs on 3rd and 10+ was extremely frustrating all night. Defensive stats would have been a lot better if could have gotten off the field on those long throws.

Corey Heatherman is calling the defense perfectly considering our injuries and personnel.

First and foremost, stop the run on early downs.

Force the opponent to pass but don’t let the QB have time to scan the field and let receivers get open downfield. Bring pressure if you have to every down. Make the QB choose the check down every time or make him run for his life.

Play mostly off coverage, keep the offense in front of you and make the tackle with minimal yac. (We can’t get super aggressive with our coverage considering we’re starting CB4 and a safety at cornerback.) Make the offense execute long drives and convert third downs.

If the offense reaches the extended red zone (around the 30) get more aggressive with your coverage. Since getting beat deep isn’t an issue. Hold the opponent to field goal attempts.

Even if the opponent moves the ball between the 20s, giving up five field goals and zero touchdowns means you’re going to win the game.

We get a bit more aggressive in coverage on third and longs but I see us doing more of that as we start getting corners back from injury.

I once said Keionte could have a go at my wife after the pick six in the GameDay Thread.

Chase Smith tonight -- not quite that level.

But he can stay & watch Keionte have a go.
