Miami Hurricanes defensive back Bryce Fitzgerald spoke with the media, stating that freshman defensive back JJ Dunnigan is turning heads at practice:
"JJ is a hidden gem," he added. "He is one of the fastest kids on the team, fastest guy I've probably seen."
Fitzgerald also stated that he did not have to say much to him, noting that JJ picked things up at a whole different level this fall.
"He's just learning everything. I taught him a few stuff, but he came in and he was ready to go. I didn't really have to tell him much. He learned his way. He had his struggles, but now JJ, he's on a whole another level."
Coming out of high school, he was rated as a four-star prospect according to the 247Sports Recruiting Rankings. He was also ranked as the nation's No. 98 overall player and No. 9 safety in the country.
He represented Manhattan High School in Kansas, where he recorded a total of 57 tackles, 4.0 tackles for loss, one sack, and 6.3 tackles per game.
Dunnigan made multiple top plays in the Hurricanes' spring game, recording over three pass breakups during the event. He has also caught the attention of the coaches and could be in line to make an early impact at Miami.
