Four-star offensive tackle Kweli Fielder checked in at No. 25 overall in ESPN’s first-ever SC Next Jr. 300 for the Class of 2028, another sign that the Hurricanes landed one of the premier young offensive linemen in the country.
At 6-foot-4 and 310 pounds, Fielder has already built the frame college coaches love. The Carrollton (Ga.) High School standout has been playing against elite competition from an early age and continues to prove he’s one of the most polished offensive tackles in his class. His size, footwork, and physicality make him one of the hottest recruits in the nation entering his junior season.
When it came time to make a decision, Fielder chose Miami over a long list of powerhouse programs. The Hurricanes beat out Alabama, Georgia, Indiana, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Ole Miss, and plenty of other national contenders to secure his commitment. Landing a player of his caliber this early is another recruiting win for Mario Cristobal and offensive line coach Alex Mirabal, who have built a reputation as one of the nation’s best offensive line recruiting classes
There’s another reason Fielder’s commitment stands out. He’s the cousin of 2029 Miami quarterback commit CJ Cypher, and the two Carrollton teammates committed to the Hurricanes at the same time. They’ve grown up playing together, and now they’ll have the chance to continue that journey in college. That’s a rare connection, and it gives Miami the opportunity to bring in two players who already have years of chemistry and trust built between them.
