Back to the Roster Tracker we go... Miami Basketball season ended today, as the Purdue Boilermakers ended the Hurricanes season in the Round of 32.

Jai Lucas is now onto his second full offseason as the Miami Hurricanes head coach. This is where we will know, what Hurricanes are leaving the program, transferring, staying, or going to the draft.

As of right now, zero Hurricanes have announced they’re coming back next season. Now it’s the day the 2025–26 season ended, so we’ll get more news...

Not seeing Salih in the tournament is probably the writing on the wall. I'm ok with Noam coming back. Timo looked shattered this season, I think he only returns if we can't fill the roster.

Laboy and Kee were roster fillers by the staff through connections and I'd guess they are in similar shoes as Timo. The only remotely intriguing non player this year imo was Maddox.

Depth was a major concern. Marcus was obviously a key loss. The Euros really didn't pan out. I'd like to have at least a solid 8-9 man rotation going into next year with a complete 13 for practices

This team desperately needs a true PG and a rim running big in the portal. Not sure if there's space for both Tru and Dante since they're both 2 guards exclusively that likely want a starting spot.

Jai's mentioned that he prefers a small rotation, and they seemingly distributed their NIL budget accordingly, but having 5 roster spots being taken by dude's that simply can't play is probably pushing it.

You're not starting Tru next to Dante when you also have Shelton and Gaskins in the front court. The spacing would be a disaster and teams would simply pack the paint on us every night. The most likely and effective outcome is convincing one of Tru or Dante to embrace the 6th man role (Tru makes the most sense) and go all-in on a PG in the portal who can stretch the floor and get you 15-16+ PPG and be a threat from 3.

I also believe that Dante should be able get to 35-36% from three as a sophomore (was 32% as a freshman) which would be a huge boost to whatever that backcourt will look like.

The issue I see is convincing a senior to come off the bench when he's averaged double digits the last 2 years. And I would absolutely pick Dante over Tru if it really is one or the other.

Tru's profile of a smallish guard who can't shoot just doesn't really work. If I have to watch him pass up an open 3 in favor of barreling into a loaded paint and getting his shot punched one more time I'm going to lose it.

Tru isn't and won't be an NBA player, so I don't see any downside for him taking on a '6th starter' role at a high major program and playing 25 minutes a night. His effectiveness as a player is inversely correlated to his usage, but if he wants to be a lead guy at a lower-level program, that is his prerogative.

Personally, Dante has far much more upside as a prospect and needs to be a starter next year.

Don’t know if you all are overselling Dante’s game or underselling Tru’s…. But if Dante turns out to be a better college player than Tru, that would be tremendous. I personally don’t see it but hope I’m way wrong on that

Feel like he flashed early with effort but just tanked late in season.. Hard to tell which way it goes but he wasnt even looking at basket to end the year even when open a few times..

Tru is not a poor 3 point shooter (.352). Right now, he's a better long range threat than Dante (.321).

We know Tru's ceiling; Dante's is not yet established.

The three needs I hope get filled this offseason.

Guard play: needs better shooting and playmaking, and whoever comes in must be able to create their own shot with consistency.

Forward depth: Besides Gaskins and Allen, need more size and versatility, one more transfer in for competition and/or a body to eat fouls and crash for rebounds.

Centre: Udeh leaving creates a massive hole, his rebounding ability to compete on the perimeter in stretches and energy will be missed. I hope whoever we bring in can fill some of what he brought, but is also able to provide unassisted points as well (post-ups, spot shooting, free throws)

The problem isn't the percentage, its the willingness to actually shoot the ball. Too often Tru hesitates and winds up with a worse shot. Dante is a much better decision maker offensively (though admittedly he got gun shy against Purdue in a couple big moments that cost us).
