JD will be making his return to the Miami Baseball Forum next Wednesday, 12/3/25

The meeting will take place at 12pm at Duffy's Sports Grill, located at 8575 SW 124th Ave Miami, FL 33183

Anyone is welcome to attend and ask JD questions about the team and the program. JD was very open and honest at last year's meeting. He was very honest about recruiting and our future. I will be asking more questions about recruiting and other good stuff at the meeting

Everyone come out and ask questions to our leader

last years thread

- JD last year said Michael Torres was the best Defensive OF we've had in 20 years, today he said Michael Torres is the best defensive OF this program has ever had.

- JD said this 2025 freshman hitting class is the best freshman class we've had since 2005, a class that had Jemile Weeks, Yonder Alonso, Dennis Raben, and Blake Tekotte

I will post more updates, but this was overall a great meeting. JD has us and this program on the right track to compete for titles

JD said that although he is allowed 21 scholarships, he only used 19 this year and was able to take care of everyone. Remember that Cuvet and Galvin are freebies. He said he will use the fact that he didn't use all his scholarships to justify asking for an extra scholarship or two in a future year.

JD mentioning the 05 class is HIGH PRAISE
And I fully agree with him. Obviously some homerism from me, but I've been out to the scrimmages the last three seasons. This is, without a doubt, the most physically impressive freshman hitting class I've seen, and they show it on the field as well. We both actually mentioned this. I asked him about how hard it is going to be to keep these guys engaged and willing to wait their turn for the 2026-27 season. It will be very interesting to see how we manage this situation. Good problem to have.

JD also mentioned that they wanted to keep both freshman catchers last year and start the season with Evan Tavares, Nolan Johnson, and Alonzo Alvarez, he said, once Alex Sosa hit the portal that changed because he fits our lineup perfectly

He also mentioned Bilka is the likely closer. It will be interesting to see who takes that 3rd spot in the rotation. Rob Evans, Jake Dorn, or Who?

He also said that Jake Ogden and Vance Sheehan will be the starting middle infielders, but he's not sure who will play second and who will play short. He said Sheehan will get to 4 balls at short that Ogden wouldn't, but Sheehan will make 4 errors Ogden wouldn't.
do we really feel Ogden was limited at Short last season that we'd entertain putting a more error prone dude instead???? I'm pretty happy with Ogden at SS, and wouldn't mess with it.
