Miami @ App St on ESPN

LOL. 3,000 is barely considered even medium altitude. The effective oxygen at that altitude is 90% of what it is at sea level. Unless you're running a competitive 5K, 10K, or marathon you don't even need to worry too much. Coming in a day early should cover acclimatization.

Bottom line: it won't make a difference even if the teams were evenly matched.

Think: where the Denver Broncos play is 2,000 ft higher than App State and you don't see teams freaking out about playing there, where the O[SUP]2[/SUP] is approx 80% of sea level.

You make a statement here on National TV. You don't take your foot off the gas until the 4th. You let the world know the Miami Hurricanes are not giving one single ****. I would encourage helmet to helmet kill shots & 15 yard unsportmanlike TD celebrations.

Better get them early, 3332 ft above sea level. Big guys will be gassed.

Good. Looking foward to seeing a rabid D-Line get 10+ sacks on national TV.

Our 3's should be able to handle their 1's. Shouldn't be an issue especially if our guys are in as good of shape as we keep hearing.

Also, I live about an hour away, it's not that bad compared to Colorado. I thought I was good from living in the altitude my whole life, went their for a collegiate baseball league that summer, took me about a month to get used to it.

Whew. Thank god it's not a night game. Oh wait we don't need those excuses any more.

Does their stadium even have lights?

Yes on top of their press box. They aren't like big time schools lights though, it has been known as a place that's tough to play at night because of the fog and lack of adequate lighting. Obviously tougher if you're a one dimensional passing team.

JgDaCane...

I think you meant dont take the footnoff the gas...

your point is taken though....the Canes should work hard to roll...destroy...the opposition in their early contests...

all.contests for sure..but set the tone for a theme in tje season..

Only a matter of time until the "cool guy" App State fans start posting and wishing us a good game and other smarmy bullshīt.

The year they beat Michigan they were the #1 ranked FCS team. They could have easily made a bowl game if they had been in the FBS.

Tennessee is a 24 point favorite in Knoxville week 1. Miami around -17 I would expect. Similar to our game at FAU last year which was easy money.

My dad was in Vegas for the 4th weekend and was looking at all the Miami games and saw Miami and app state at UM -7 and called to see what I thought because he was going to put some cash on it.. Idk if it was open or unofficial or what but he said all the Miami lines looked too good to be true for as much as I'm hyping them up for 2017.

Canes come to play should be no problem...

Remember, Michigan didnt think they were "that Michigan that proved to be" at the start of 1Q either...

they were shell shocked at EO4Q though...

This TV game is a touch disrespectful (or just perception of Miami) as ESECPN is even thinking a loss/close game will happen. Cant imagine Bama vs App St (I know it isnt on schedule..settle down) ever being on TV...

Take it how you like, but I saw UF play Toledo or some equivelant on a major station. I don't think they were believed to be Toledo's equals with Tebow under center.

The noon slate of games for that day is a pile of garbage. FSU at Louisville is the only semi decent game.

I live in Denver CO the altitude will not have an effect in our players. Our players under Richt will be in much greater shape and conditioned than what we saw from Golden

There is no doubt that Miami should be favored to win, and expected to win, but the confidence of our fan base is a bit much on this one. As far as advanced analytics go, App. State was a better team last year. In fact, we didn't fare better than any App. State in any metric you want to choose.

Opponent adjusted stats for offense, defense, special teams, possession efficiency, field position efficiency. You name it. App State was better. They are 17-2 in their last 19 FBS games. Where is the Manny Diaz defense most vulnerable with this secondary? In explosive plays. App State was 7th in the nation in explosive plays last year. They did this mostly through a power spread rushing attack...another area that Diaz' defenses have struggled.

Again, you should expect Miami to win, you should expect improvement due to coaching and game planning, but to expect Miami to walk into a crazy atmosphere at noon early in the season and blow this team out is expecting a lot.
