Very early in the season, but some quick callouts:

Points Scored: Fourth highest in the last 25 seasons
Points Allowed: Tied for fifth lowest in the last 25 seasons

Bold indicates seasons with only D1 opposition

The years not in bold were years we had a 1AA school on the schedule.

Yeah - that 2015-2017 was some weak sauce opening schedules.

The site that I was looking at only went back to 2008 so I didn't even get to the years which made me question your comment which was the mid 2000s when we played FSU on Labor Day several times when both of us were still good and we were the marque game for opening weekend.

So… if 17, 16 and 15 are similar, we are the same 🤔

So basically the only years we didn't play a P5 teams in our first 2 games were:

1998
2015-2017 - aka Mark "The Mirage" Walton years
2022

You could count 2020 in the same bucket as 1998 IMO. UL was G5 until 2014.

You mean 2014? I can see that. But Louisville was a Top 15 team 2012 & 2013 as G5, and Top 25 in 2014 their first year in the ACC, so they were pretty good

Beginning of the end. Hated that early game with FSU. The rest of the season had nothing to look forward to.
