I wasn't necessarily looking forward to publishing this year's version, but here we go. Our regular season is now concluded, so how does the 2020 Hurricanes compare to teams from the last twenty five seasons after ten games?

Record: This is the 4th time that Miami has started out 8-2. The previous two examples yielded records of 11-2 (2003), 9-3 (2004), and 9-3 (2005).
Points For: This is the 8th highest scoring Canes team over ten games in the last 25 seasons, and the 3rd highest in the last 16 seasons
Point Allowed: While last night's shutout loss improved things, defensively only one other team (2012) allowed more points overall
Avg Pts For Per Game: 34. This is a 5 point improvement off of our average last year
Avg Pts Allowed Per Game: 26. This is a 7 point regression from last year. We're now allowing a full TD/extra point more per game

However, let's isolate down to years where Miami played only Power 5 or Group of 5 opponents in its first ten games. That narrows the scope down considerably to just seven teams. When doing so this year's squad has scored the second highest of those teams. Last night's game dropped the 2020 Canes defensively to the bottom of this group.
