Yea just based on how we play I don’t think his body type is a fit. I think we’re going to looking for more of the Justin Scott body type which is more of a 1-tech frame then a NT.

Serious question because I really don't know... how different is a 1-tech frame from an NT frame? Is a 1-tech more of an attacking position relative to NT?

Same. The difference would be if you are running a 3/4 you want your NT to be a BIG boy. We run a 4/3 so our 1T can be a little smaller.

Miami hasn’t had many 330+ dt that are elite.

Understood. I guess it comes down to his burst and movement skill. If he's like a Desmond Watson, who really can't move and is more suited for NT, then dropping him makes sense. But if he can get upfield and demand a double team... Maybe that's why he's not a 5*.

In a 4-3 a lot of people are calling the 1 tech a nose tackle when originally it was head over the center in 3-4.

NT were larger two gap players in the 3-4, in our case theyre one gap players who are able to anchor vs double teams since theyre aligned inbeteen the center and guard.

its why i think we didnt really go after legacv Michael Bouireau who is at uf...subsequently he hasnt look half bad for them. Uf has like 5 1 tech nose tackle types i guess thats what they wanted being in the sec..and just load up on the fattest guys the y could.

Gaby on the podcast implied he could be on decommit/flip watch (reading between the lines, high likelihood of a flip away). This very well could be the other flip Flo was expecting.

Also sounded like they were making room if a DL whale(s) wanted in.

A 1-tech is primarily a run defender in a 4 man front and are usually bigger guys like for example fletcher cox. They usually give you more pass rush upside as well.

Heatherman uses a lot of odd man fronts and asks our DTs to essentially be Swiss army knife’s. Expect more tweeners like chukwurah who can slide from 5 tech DE to 3 tech DT and bodies like Justin Scott and Nagle who’ll probably play about 305-310 and can play 3T, 1T, and Nose if needed.

We’re even seeing the trend in edge rusher recruiting. Guys like Lafayette and Campbell are going play hybrid roles as well.

Well that’s one thing they succeeded on doing….

I think having a body type like him or the Broughton kid would be good because our S&C has slimmed those guys down in the past. I get it though and trust Heatherman
