various examples at many positions that left us in terrible situations with attrition etc.. etc..

Look like Manny is finally creating an environment of true competition here. Way too many years of handing the keys over to unknown quantities and not recruiting correctly in order to "keep them." Miami hasn't had leverage in a long time.

Looks like the QB position is telling us all we need to know about TNM or TNA "the new approach" even though we brought Martell we also brought 2 other guys, didn't give Martell the keys and shut it down. This will help with not only competition but attrition.. in the portal era you have tp be ready for departures, Miami is starting to get ready for departures/busts for the first time in a long time...

QB is by far the toughest position to create long term competition at. Every program, from Bama to Clemson and down has depth issues because transfers are going to be so prevelant.

Aside from this year we haven't been much different than any most programs.

Good point! In the day we had A pipeline in waiting.
Kelly/ Kosar waiting
Bernie/ Walsh waiting
Steve/Craig waiting
Craig/Gino waiting.
That’s how we became QBU and won 4 NCs in that 10 year period

Sorry I forgot Vinnie, needed my second coffee to wake up. Tough to get old!

I'm not sure those are cases of putting all your eggs in one basket. Harris maybe, because Randy made it clear that he wasn't going to bother recruiting another QB to challenge him. Randy was going to slide seamlessly from Jacory to Teddy Bridgewater but of course, that never happened. That's how Miami got stuck with Morris and the nobody else. By the time Morris (who turned out to be a lot better player than most thought he'd be) graduated. They had two upperclassmen transfers in William's and Heaps and a freshman Kaaya. After that they had Jack Allison on deck and with Perry and Weldon already signed on, they still brought in Williams. There's been some poor planning and some guys they were depending on left (Kaaya and Allison) but the QB depth wasn't always a big issue. Most schools don't have more than 3 scholarship QBs at one time. The turnover rate is so high at that position and using a bunch of scholarships on guys who may never play isn't a great move.

Tate is the best QB in the QB room. Personality + talent that Miami has needed at the QB position for a while now. When he becomes eligible, I expect him to start and I expect us to win big.
Not true, not even close.

Read what OP said. This exact same misconception is why we are where we SRE now. Kosi was "the best QB in the QB room" before the dude ever played a snap, then it was Jarren Williams. I know that Tate has seen the field at Ohio State, but as of right now he's just another guy on the depth chart and he better compete to win the job.

The sooner I see someone named the starter prior to them all taking the field together for workouts, the sooner I'll know that this staff is no better than the last

You don't build depth just to draw straws.

No Tate is not the best until he beats out the rest!

Wonder if that would happen these days with the way transfers are now

He will beat out the rest bc he is the best. It's only a matter of when he will be eligible to play.

Talk about poor roster management, prior to the transfers, we has a total of SEVEN seniors on the team. As per manny Diaz

Amazing how you could write that and leave out Miami’s first Heisman winner...
My bad. I needed another coffee! I was thinking of the NCs and how they shaped up and totally forgot Vinne. I’m still hung over from The PennState loss in the Fiesta. That was the best team ever to not win a national championship

Potential is just hyperbole unless it extrapolates to performance.Action Talks, Bullshyt Walks.

No other QBs film comes close to Martell's. Will he have to work for it? Of course and he should be expected to but he is far and away the best talent we've had at QB as far back as I can remember. He is virtually a clone of the last few Heisman winners! So much is riding on this waiver!

Harder to get kids to wait now though..

I’m a big Tate fan. Looks like the best but young men can develop quickly. Lots of talent in that qb room and they will learn from each other.
I’m so sick of not having anything special at qb. Start the season now!
