Miami concluded their annual early spring game on Saturday where the Miami Hurricanes played at Cobb Stadium. Fans were also able to come out and watch the Hurricanes for their final practice of spring ball.

Many of the Hurricanes star players were playing limited snaps, as you know, due to injuries, just making sure nobody gets hurt. That’s where we got to see some freshmen and guys deeper on the depth chart get some reps on the field.

This is where Hurricanes head coach Mario Cristobal was seen praising freshman running back Javian Mallory after the spring game, saying this is the reason why they recruited him, after having a successful spring game.

Here is what Cristobal had to say about the freshman standout running back:

"Since the moment he got here, he's just a very physical runner. You almost underestimate him. You expect him to be really good. That's why we recruited him. But when he takes people on, the collisions and the force that he generates on contact and his contact balance is really impressive."

"Great young man... hard worker, runs with his pads down, understands football really well. The most impressive part about him is the way he functioned in protection. He was spot on," Said Cristobal.

Javian is in a deep running back room where the Hurricanes returned every single running back from last season, with the addition of Mallory. Miami has one of the deepest running back rooms in the country.

Is he the heir apparent to Touchdown Marty Brown? A tough, rugged, steady back. Always want that kind of Workhorse that enters the game to grind the Defense into submission.

Came here to say this. No hesitation in finding the right lane. May not have top end speed but I can’t see a scenario where he doesn’t get more reps.

RB3 in my opinion. Obviously a small sample but when you put it all together w the reports, the kid should get a shot to make an impact this year

 

Kid can block, catch and of course run.

I think he will be a major weapon by mid season.

He had the 2 easiest runs all night. Stanford lost the edge badly and ran untouched. Can't in any way draw any conclusions as we really didn't see him do anything.

It's just my opinion with what I watch and how I evaluate players. I tend to try to be unbiased. I think we're a terrific team and a title contender, but unlike everyone else I don't think our RB room is very good, and it's okay to have that evaluation.

I understand and the reason I didnt like the disrespect of the whole frank gore comp.. I can I guess understand AR because he didnt see freshman frank gore, we know d$ did and he still letting weird comps fly.. Unless he talking about frank gore on two bad knees after 14 year NFL career but its just a disservice to Mallory because it dont even make sense, Gore hit that corner he housig that ****..

Using comps like Frank and Saquan just set the players up for disappointment because like cmon bruh.. Kid is good and Im sure he has elite contact balance and once we get oline squared away he gonna look even better but Freshman Frank was SPECIAL..
